There is little doubt about the fact that there are millions of consumers in the United States that love to drive a Honda. The popularity of the Civic has grown over the last 10 years and that has brought many changes to the car with each model that has been released in the United States and all over the world. However, one of the latest models, the Honda Civic Type R is not expected to be released here in the United States.
As of right now, the Honda Civic Type R will not be shipped to the United States and even though that is bad news for those that want to drive the new car, there might be good news coming along with the bad. According to one online source, the Honda Civic Type R engine could be coming to consumers by way of a new version of the Civic, just for Americans. The online source claims that there will be a new Civic developed with the same 2.0-liter turbo engine that you can find in the Honda Civic Type R.
The popularity of the i-VTEC engine has given Honda plenty of reasons to boost it with add-ons and turbo that is reportedly going to bring the horsepower up to 300. The final horsepower numbers have not been confirmed, but if they are going to reach into the high 200’s, that will be a lot for the small sports car. Honda is calling this new Civic one of the “most extreme Civic’s yet” and that is going to bring the sales up for sure as.
At this time, it is not known if the model that is being developed for Americans will be one that comes with the Type R badges on it. The odds that makes any difference are slim when you can get badges online and place them on the car yourself. If the car is going to feature the same engine, there is no reason consumers should assume they do not have the same car underneath them.
The new Civic model has reportedly been one that is going to replace the Civic Si models that many thought should have a mid-lineup status to begin with. In the meantime, Honda consumers will have only the rumors to go with and they will have to wait and see if everything pans out for those living in the United States. If the car does get released, it will be competing with other 300-hp models from Ford. The new Ford Focus RS and ST models are reportedly going to be released globally soon, but is typically kept in the European countries.
