‘Homeland’ Season 6 to Focus on US Elections; Elizabeth Marvel’s Character Modeled After Hillary Clinton? Let’s See

Claire Danes’ Carrie Mathison will be dealing with the ins and outs of the US elections in the upcoming season of “Homeland.”

The sixth season of the Showtime series is set to focus on the US elections and will highlight the events when a new leader takes over.

Executive producer Alex Ganza said the season will feature the period between the elections and the inauguration.

Some say that it will reflect some real-life scenarios with the US elections that will happen this November and the inauguration in January.

Ganza says that there’s a strange period in America where there are 72 days when it’s not clear who’s in charge and the new president needs to be educated how to be the ruler of the nation.

The next few episodes of the political drama will portray the conflicts and controversies during the transition period in government when a new president steps in the White House.

Ganza teases that fans should watch out how politicians and the CIA play the politics game and maneuverings and see who has real power over things.

Danes say that she doesn’t know how Carrie will fit into the plot line yet. The actress says that the writers have a general sense of things already and they’ve gone through a few outlines but it’s still a bit vague for Carrie.

Last season, Carrie’s life turned upside down because of all the things that transpired. The Ex-CIA officer disconnected Peter Quinn’s life support in the Season 5 finale. Most fans are curious as to what Carrie felt after her decision to do so.

International Business Times reports that Carrie will still be in medication in the upcoming season. Despite being mentally stable, she still carries guilt inside her.

Season 6 is teased to carry some normalcy in Carrie’s life because fans will see her living with her daughter Frenny in Brooklyn. It remains uncertain if Carrie can leave her child to come work for the CIA again in the upcoming season.

After Season 5, Carrie is officially done with the CIA, but it looks like some events will happen in Season 6 that will force her to go back to old habits.

As per Movie News Guide, Season 6 will open months after Carrie’s return to America with Mathison working for a foundation that aids Muslims in the United States.

Carrie might also find marital bliss with Sebastian Koch’s Otto During as the website teases that the two is set to exchange vows in Season 6.

Season 6 will also take the action to the Big Apple and will introduce America’s first female President in the drama.

Showtime has announced that actress Elizabeth Marvel will join the political drama as Elizabeth Keane, America’s next President. Keane will be playing an integral role this season especially with the trying times the American face.

According to TV Fanatic, Keane is a former senator from New York, where Carrie and Frenny currently reside. This means that Carrie and the new POTUS have a common ground.

Entertainment Weekly states that Keane is modeled after former First Lady and now presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

Dane says that with Clinton’s recent candidacy, Keane might take inspiration from her, but the character is not solely based on Clinton.

homeland season 6

Keane, just like Clinton, is described as brusque and charming. In the next installment of “Homeland,” Keane will become a force to reckon with in politics.

However, just a few weeks after her win, something big shall happen to her hometown which will hinder her from celebrating her victory.

Marvel, who hails from Netflix’s “House of Cards,” is not a newbie when it comes to political drama. Her former character, Heather Dunbar also ran for president in the Netflix hit series.
