‘Homeland’ Season 6 to Dramatize Quinn’s Character in a Surprising Way, Reveals Showrunner!

The recent Season 5 finale of the American political thriller drama TV series “Homeland” had Carrie Mathison, played by Claire Danes, about to put an end to the life of her former lover Peter Quinn, played by Rupert Friend, who was already brain dead after being exposed to a deadly dose of sarin gas.

Carrie was about to end the life of Quinn before a burst of sunlight came through the window as the Season 5 finale wrapped up.

The cliffhanger ending of “Homeland” Season 5 has apparently left viewers wondering whether Carrie did push through with her plan to end the suffering of her former lover or the light is a sign that Quinn would survive, notes the Ecumenical News.

But it seems that the secret is already out that Peter Quinn will survive and will come back in Season 6 of “Homeland.”

The confirmation came no less from actor Rupert Friend when he said in a recent interview that he hopes his character enjoys eating through a tube, indicating that life would be very difficult for Peter Quinn in the upcoming sixth season of “Homeland.”

Heading into a different direction

Showrunner Alex Gansa also confirmed that Peter Quinn will come back in Season 6. During the show’s recently held For Your Consideration Emmy panel, Gansa disclosed that fans should expect to see Quinn’s storyline to go somewhere different in the upcoming sixth season of “Homeland.”

Gansa said that people will be surprised as to how the TV series is going to dramatize Peter Quinn’s character in Season 6 and that it may not be what viewers would think.

The series creator also revealed something about what’s in store for Carrie whom he said shall be going on a very different and singular journey, notes the International Business Times of UK.

Gansa said that Carrie got a couple of big questions on the table and the first of which is whether she would decide to marry Otto or not. It could be recalled that Carrie got a proposal from her boss Otto during the Season 5 finale.

Carrie is also thinking whether she should go back to the CIA as what her former boss Saul Berenson, played by Mandy Patinkin, has been asking her.

The showrunner said that the show will be moving into the new season with a significant amount of momentum. He also added that “Homeland” is going to have a different feel this year, the way the show has done every year, which is one of its key strengths.

Highlighting Donald Trump’s presidential bid

Season 6 of “Homeland” is to premiere on Showtime in September this year and based on the recent disclosure of the network CEO David Nevins, the show might possibly feature some events concerning Republican Donald Trump and his US presidential bid.

In addition to showcasing the presidential candidacy of Trump, Season 6 of “Homeland” shall also delve on the survival of Peter Quinn.

“Homeland” is one of the very few TV shows right now whose producers are not shy of using real people for its storylines.

It was during the Season 5 that the TV series focused on the back story of Peter Quinn, which was a deviation from the usual fast-paced sequences of “Homeland” when the focus was made on the agent as a young man prior to his recruitment to the Central Intelligence Agency.

The back story on Quinn was shown as he was fighting for his life in the hospital in the current timeline after he was exposed to sarin gas. He is in a critical condition because of the massive blood hemorrhage he had as a result.

However, co-showrunner Howard Gordon has already hinted that there is a good chance that Quinn will be coming back for Season 6. Although he made a sort of turnaround when he added that anything can still change until the show premieres.

Over at Twitter, fans have been posting their messages address to the showrunners to ensure that Quinn comes back in Season 6 because the ratings of “Homeland” will drop if they decide to kill off the CIA operative and assassin.

Showtime programming chief Gary Levine also said in a recent interview that if Peter Quinn managed to survive the ordeal, he will never be the same again.

As for the location of the upcoming season of the TV series, it has already been confirmed that it is going to be in New York, which means that it will be the first time that the TV show will be filmed on US soil. The previous five seasons of “Homeland” saw the show filming in Afghanistan, Lebanon, Iraq, Pakistan, and Germany, in that order.

Nevins actually confirmed that Season 6 of “Homeland” will be filming in New York City but he explained that while the sixth season of the popular TV series will be set domestically, the whole “Homeland” Season 6 will also shot scenes elsewhere.

He did not disclose however whether it is going to be other places in the US outside of New York City, or outside again of the US.
