Season 5 of the American political thriller drama TV series “Homeland” ended on a major cliffhanger with Carrie Mathison, played by Claire Danes, removing the pulse monitor of Peter Quinn, played by Rupert Friend.
While some fans believe that it was an insinuation that Peter Quinn will be dead, latest reports have it that the CIA agent, who was declared brain dead during Season 5 of “Homeland,” will be around for Season 6 of “Homeland.”
The new reports disprove rumors and speculations that Peter Quinn is already dead come the first episode of Season 6 when it officially airs on January 15, 2017 on Showtime.
The information actually came no less from the showrunners and the actors of the TV series themselves during the show’s presentation panel at the New York ComicCon held on October 5 to 6, reports the International Business Times of UK.
Showrunners Alex Gansa, Lesli Linka Glatter, and Howard Gordon, and actors Claire Danes, Mandy Patinkin, and F. Murray Abraham actually held court during the presentation panel of “Homeland” at the New York ComicCon.
Receiving therapy in New York
It was actually Claire Danes who revealed that Peter Quinn is going to be alive in Season 6 of “Homeland.”
She also disclosed that the reason why Carrie will be moving to New York City from Germany is because Peter Quinn is there and shall, in fact, be undergoing therapy in the Big Apple.
The actress also added that the presence of Peter Quinn in New York would also bode well for the survival chances of her character’s occasional love interest in the TV series.
Accordingly, the revelation of Claire Danes about Peter Quinn had fans gasping for breath with joy knowing that a fan-favorite character is not going to be killed.
Grace on the job
Mandy Patinkin, who plays Saul Berenson in “Homeland,” has all praises and great appreciation to Claire Danes for her skills as an actress.
He said that it is almost inhuman what Claire Danes is capable of doing. He credited her with teaching him the meaning of grace on the job.
Asked about the state of the often fractious Carrie-Saul relationship as season six dawns, Patinkin said Saul’s faith in Carrie’s preternatural ability to fight the good fight against terrorism is strong even if Carrie may still be shunning the CIA, for now.
Saul, on the other hand, is always in a prayerful state that he will reconnect with his child and bring her back into the world where she is destined to be a profound giver and caretaker to humanity,”
Alex Gansa teased that the upcoming Season 6 of “Homeland” would focus on the counter-terrorism efforts in New York City, which comes nearly two decades after 9/11, details Variety.
He explained that “Homeland” wants to objectively sit back and look at how scared people should be on the threat of terrorism.
Season 6 of “Homeland” shall reportedly revolve around as well on the presidential election and the struggles of the first-ever female President of the United States.
Lest it be accused of being political and endorsing the candidacy of former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the upcoming presidential election, the producers of “Homeland” are saying that the plotline has already been thought of even before America went into its current presidential election season.
And by the time that Season 6 of “Homeland” airs on Showtime early next year, the Americans have already chosen their next president and it could either be Hillary Clinton of the Democrats or Donald Trump of the Republicans.
Barrack Obama will officially move out of office on January 20 so the two-month transition from the election period to the formal entry of the next US President into the White House is what “Homeland” shall be highlighting.
The role of the newly-elected president named Elizabeth Keane shall be taken on by Elizabeth Marvel.
