Homeland Season 6 May Feature Some Events Concerning Donald Trump and His Presidential Bid, More Details

Season 6 of the American political thriller drama TV series “Homeland” is set to premiere on Showtime in September this year and based on the recent disclosure of the network CEO David Nevins, the show might possibly feature some events concerning Republican hopeful Donald Trump and his US presidential bid.

In addition to showcasing the presidential candidacy of Trump, Season 6 of “Homeland” shall also delve on the survival of Peter Quinn, played by Rupert Friend, reports Yibada.

“Homeland” is one of the very few TV shows right now whose producers are not shy of using real people for its storylines.

During the Season 5 finale of “Homeland,” Peter Quinn was in a life-or-death situation and it served as the show’s cliffhanger for Season 6.

It was also during the Season 5 that the TV series focused on the backstory of Peter Quinn, which was a deviation from the usual fast-paced sequences of “Homeland.” Sufficient focus was made on the agent as a young man prior to his recruitment to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

The backstory on Quinn was shown as he was fighting for his life in the hospital in the current timeline after he was exposed to sarin gas. He is in a critical condition because of the massive blood hemorrhage he had as a result.

Coming back for Season 6

However, co-showrunner Howard Gordon has already hinted that there is a good chance that Quinn will be coming back for Season 6. Although he made a sort of turnaround when he added that anything can still change until the show premieres.

Over at Twitter, fans have been posting their messages addressed to the showrunners to ensure that Quinn comes back in Season 6 because the ratings of “Homeland” will drop if they decide to kill off the CIA operative and assassin.

Showtime programming chief Gary Levine also said in a recent interview that if Peter Quinn managed to survive his ordeal, he will never be the same again.

As for the location of the upcoming season of the TV series, it has already been confirmed that it is going to be in New York, which means that it will be the first time that the TV show will be filmed on US soil. The previous five seasons of “Homeland” saw the TV series filming in Afghanistan, Lebanon, Iraq, Pakistan, and Germany, notes the International Business Times of India.

Nevins actually confirmed that Season 6 of “Homeland” will be filming in New York City but he explained that while the sixth season of the popular TV series will be set domestically, the whole “Homeland” Season 6 will also be shooting scenes elsewhere.

He did not disclose, however,  the other US places they are going to be but those would be surely outside of the Big Apple.

Focusing on the backstory of Carrie

Following what they did during the previous season where they highlighted the backstory of Peter Quinn that drew positive response from the fans, the showrunners of “Homeland” will build on the same formula by turning the lights on the backstory of Carrie Mathison, played by Claire Danes, and how she came to work with the hallowed halls of the CIA.

Alex Gansa, executive producer of “Homeland,” said in a recent interview that the intention to feature Carrie’s own backstory would be an interesting plotline for Season 6, which is expected to return to Showtime in September this year.

The show has yet to feature how Carrie was like when she was still in college before Saul Berenson, played by Mandy Patinkin, took an interest in her brilliance.

Gansa shared that they would most likely depict Carrie as an intelligent co-ed who impressed her professors, which is the reason why she got the attention of Saul Berenson. One of her professors may have identified Carrie as someone who can identify persons who are incredibly perceptive and acute about human behavior and she was referred to Berenson.
