“Homeland” has always made it a point to present the adversaries of the show’s protagonists in a relatable, human way – the show always presents the other side of the conflict and reminds us that we’re all human in the end.
But with ISIS, this hasn’t been so simple, as the producers have been struggling to find any humane side of the organization and what they’ve been doing. Of course, the group does have its motivations so we have no doubt that the show’s producers are going to find a way to get the job done.
We’ve seen the trend of humanizing their antagonists for a long time now, as all throughout the show’s last four seasons, the producers have been doing exactly that. And with some of those characters, it’s actually worked out quite well.
But according to the show’s staff, ISIS has been a different story and it’s much more challenging to present that group in any favorable light. We’re curious how the show might look once season 5 is released with that in mind, and surely a lot of people would be paying attention to the way the antagonists are presented specifically. Let’s just hope that the show isn’t going to flop due to some mistakes in its production for season 5.
