Even though we still don’t have much official information about the fifth season of “Homeland”, we did recently get a fresh new trailer for the show, giving us a glimpse into some of the new developments that are coming up. And even though the trailer does shed some light on the plot of the new season and the kinds of stories that it’s going to tell, it also raised some questions for the fans, and stirred up some conversations on messaging boards related to the show.
One thing that was made clear was that Carrie would be coming back pretty soon, as she was shown having a conversation with Saul. Saul tells her that she has “turned her back on her entire life”, and he questions her motivations. He then calls her naïve and stupid, and seems surprised by this as he didn’t see these qualities in her before.
The trailer didn’t go into any more detail about the conversation that the two had, but the small bits it did show were more than enough for some fans to get started on their arguments and discussions. Various things could end up happening in season 5 of the show, and fans have been eager to make the right guess about the new developments.
The end of the trailer shows a quick succession of action shots that feature Carrie being taken in captivity by masked assailants, and the clips overall look like they’ve been taken out of an action film, with lots of explosions and special effects. Of course, that’s something that the show has had its fair share of as well, so it’s not surprising to see it in the new trailer.
One thing that ended up disappointing the show’s fans about the trailer was its length. According to most people, it was far too short – but the 30 seconds of footage still ended up revealing at least a little bit about the new storyline and what we can expect.
It’s suspected that the length of the trailer is due to the progress of the show’s filming, which is apparently not that far ahead at this point. We might get to see a more detailed trailer once the producers have shot some more episodes and have more material to work with, and we may even get something that digs into the story on a deeper level and gives us a more satisfying preview for the new season’s plot, instead of the random clips that we saw now.
In the end, the new season has only been in filming for one month, so it makes sense that they wouldn’t have made much progress by this point. Still, the writers probably have a good idea about the show’s plot and what’s going to happen during season 5, so we may get the occasional leak here and there before the official information comes out.
We’re previously heard a statement from one of the show’s production members who claimed that they’ve been having problems presenting ISIS in any sort of relatable way, as the group is simply too evil to work out like that. But that’s one of the main points of the show, and they’re going to have to find a way to work around the situation if they want to continue the next season and see the show remain successful. It might not be very easy, but it’s going to be necessary, and it could realistically drive the show forward quite a lot.
