Fans of former couple Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens were the ones who got really excited when Disney Pictures announced that it has given the green light on “High School Musical 4.”
After all, a “High School Musical” movie would not be complete without Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez on it, the characters played by Efron and Hudgens in the film series, respectively.
However, from a plotline perspective, it seems inappropriate if the pair would still appear in the movie as high school students as they are both now in their late 20s so Disney would not put them in the same shoes that they once wore during the first three movies of the franchise.
There are reports saying that Zac and Vanessa are going to become parents to one of the new lead characters named Peyton although at their age at this time, it seems like a stretch as they would have to be in their mid-30s already to have a daughter that is in high school already, notes Jobs & Hire.
But the more interesting fodder for “High School Musical 4” fans are recent reports that Austin Butler, the boyfriend of Vanessa Hudgens, have reportedly decided to break up with the “Spring Breakers” actress.
Apparently, just the thought of seeing his girlfriend share screen time and possibly romantic moments with her ex-boyfriend Zac Efron on “High School Musical 4” was already too hot to handle for Butler that he has decided to call it quits with Vanessa.
However, it should be noted that neither Austin nor Vanessa have confirmed the rumored breakup so it should be taken with a fine grain of salt.
Five-year relationship
Some critics opine that the supposed breakup of Austin Butler and Vanessa Hudgens is just meant to hype the upcoming Disney movie because the pair would simply not throw away their more than five-year relationship from a mere movie that is not even as steamy as “Fifty Shades of Grey” or its sequels.
They believe that the jealousy rumors are a bit misplaced at this time considering that production for “High School Musical 4” has yet to begin.
In fact, just in August, Vanessa Hudgens was quoted to have said in an interview that she was so lucky to have Austin Butler for her boyfriend since she has never witnessed someone who works harder on his craft and well-being more than Austin does, details Game & Guide.
That’s in addition to the fact that Zac and Vanessa may no longer be the big stars of the movie but would most likely play supporting roles to a possible new high school pairing to keep the story interesting.
It would be downright ridiculous if “High School Musical 4” would continue to focus on the love life of Troy and Gabriella since they should have been way past that already now that they are both almost in their 30s.
They also have the same opinion on rumors that Zac Efron is reportedly doing everything he can in his power to get back together with his ex-girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens.
A happy ending for Troy and Gabriella
There are also rumors suggesting that the upcoming franchise will have a working title of “The Wedding” so it has led to speculations saying that it is possible that “High School Musical 4” could actually feature the happy ending of Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez.
Zac and Vanessa have been together since they started filming for “High School Musical” and were together until shortly after the last film of the franchise was released in October 2008.
Fortunately, there hasn’t been any bad blood between the two, and it was considered as not a horrible break-up. The couple merely grew apart from each other which led to the split.
