High-Performance 2015 Honda Civic Type R Now Available, And More Details

The newest addition to Honda’s Civic line, the Civic Type R, gives keen drivers something many of them have been asking from Honda for a few years now – a good, solid performance Civic model. The last time the company put something with a Civic brand was in 2010, and it was a very successful release, making the headlines for a while. It’s actually still a relatively popular model among enthusiasts, so there have understandably been a lot of eyes on Honda for this release.

The car is reported to be scheduled for a feature at next year’s Geneva Motor Show, held in March, and interested buyers can get their hands on one as early as the summer of 2015. The exact price isn’t known yet, although the car is expected to be in the $20,000-$30,000 price range, as Honda are expected to want to offer good competition in this market segment. Considering that other companies have been putting up more and more attractive offers, Honda should definitely try to give the new Civic a good price if they want to attract sufficient interest with it.

And it seems like the new Civic will definitely offer some attractive features for those who want a bit more serious performance out of their cars. It’s obviously not a standard everyday driving model, and is aimed at serious enthusiasts with its powerful engine and advanced suspension. It’s actually not known what the car’s engine is exactly, but Honda have stated that it will offer nearly 300 horsepower, so it’s expected to be something satisfyingly powerful.

Of course, sheer power is far from everything when it comes to a performance vehicle, and Honda have reportedly been putting a lot of focus in their engineering on squeezing every bit of control and driving comfort out of the design of the new Civic. There have been rumors before that Honda are moving in this direction with the 2015 Civic too, and the company has been getting more and more active in optimizing their designs to the absolute limit.

Pushing this concept even further, the car will offer the “+R” driving mode, activated with the push of a button. When this mode is active, the internal computer will adjust the engine’s performance in order to get even more power out of it, while also making steering noticeably heavier. This, overall, reportedly makes the car much more comfortable to drive on a track, but it can also assist on longer trips that go along winding roads. The Honda Civic will reportedly offer great comfort, more than the average norm for models in its class, which certainly nobody can complain about.
