Despite some skepticism about the future of “Haters Back Off” from its fans, Netflix has recently confirmed that they plan to continue the show for at least one more season. The new installment will feature eight additional episodes, and will come at some point in 2017, although the exact date hasn’t been specified yet.
The show was initially met with mixed responses and some critics were convinced that it wouldn’t last long, but it managed to prove everyone wrong relatively quickly, securing a nice place for itself in the hearts of many TV fans.
After season one was over though, there was a lot of confusion in the community regarding the show’s future and the producers’ plans for it, and many were convinced for some reason that there won’t be a season two. Thankfully Netflix didn’t wait until 2017 to make the official announcement about the show’s continuation, as many fans were already on edge waiting for the news to come out.
“Haters Back Off” has had a very positive impact on the career of Colleen Ballinger, as her YouTube personality Miranda Signs has gained more than seven million subscribers since the channel was launched. She’s recently been getting some additional recognition for her work on the YouTube channel as well, and it looks like she will have a strong motivation to continue in that direction.
We don’t know any specific details about the plot of season 2 of “Haters Back Off” yet, and it’s highly likely that Netflix are going to hold off on the official spoilers until next year. It’s already good enough that they confirmed the show’s continuation so early, giving their fans some time to relax and enjoy the holidays knowing that they’re going to get another dose of the production next year.
Netflix themselves have been pretty busy with their productions, as the network has been expanding in multiple directions. They seem strongly determined to become even more prominent with their original programming, and we’ve recently seen the announcement of many additional seasons for their shows. “Haters Back Off” is just a drop in the ocean right now, which is probably why the network is also so quiet on the specific details about the show.
It hasn’t been entirely without “accidents” though, as at least one production under the umbrella of Netflix has been put to a halt. “Marco Polo”, which actually enjoyed quite a lot of popularity and a strong launch, will not be getting continued, according to reports, much to the disappointment of its fans.
But that’s another story. For now, we’re curious what revelations we’re going to see about “Haters Back Off” and the network’s plans for the second season of the show. The show has a lot of potential and it can definitely evolve into something particularly interesting, so hopefully the producers are going to maintain the same level of quality in the next season.
There have been lots of comments from the community regarding what fans would like to see in a potential sequel of “Haters Back Off”, and if the producers are short on ideas all they have to do is look up those discussions online.
On the other hand, looking at the conflicting nature of some of those discussions, the showrunners should also definitely apply some critical thinking to the situation and try to blend everything with their own plans as best as possible. It’s not rare that we see the producers of otherwise successful shows bending too much to the will of their viewers, eventually leading to disaster.
