Royal Caribbean International will outdo itself again when it launches MV Harmony of the Seas in April 2016 which shall officially become the world’s largest cruise ship.
MV Harmony of the Seas is the third iteration of the Oasis-class cruise ship that was pioneered by Royal Caribbean almost a decade ago. The ship is currently under construction in a shipyard in France, notes MSN Travel from an AFP report.
The Oasis-class ships are innovations of Royal Caribbean and the current largest cruise ship in the world is the MV Allure of the Seas, the second iteration of Oasis-class.
MV Harmony of the Seas will weigh 2,418 gross tons and will be 2.15 meters longer and 5.5 meters wider than sister ship and current title holder, the MV Allure of the Seas.
Launched on November 20, 2009, the MV Allure of the Seas has an LOA (length overall) of 362 meters and a width of 60.5 meters. The cruise ship made its maiden voyage on December 1, 2010 and as of July 2012, it has a total crew complement of 2,384.
