Season 3 of “Hannibal” is shaping up to be full of surprises and some interesting experiments with the plot development, and a few more details about the upcoming new episodes have just been revealed to the public. It appears that Will Graham will find himself married, which might surprise those who remember his apparent death in the finale of season 2. It appears that the writers have prepared an interesting plot twist, and the character is not only perfectly fine, but will be hot on Dr. Lecter’s trail right from the start of season 3, seeking vengeance for the attempt on his life.
Later on during the season, a romantic story will begin unfolding, as the story jumps a few years into the future and shows Graham getting ready to marry to a woman named Molly, who has a teenage son. Molly will apparently play a major role in the new storyline, helping Graham deal with the issues of his past, and pushing him to resolve the internal conflicts that he’s developed as a result of his experiences.
Of course, this all sounds a bit too perfect and lovely for a show like “Hannibal”, which has established itself for its violence and thrilling scenes, not so much for strong romance or anything along those lines. So it’s safe to assume that all of this happiness will be counterbalanced by equally grim developments that shake the foundations of the show, and the producers have indeed hinted that episode 7 of the new season will be the weirdest one fans have seen yet.
While they didn’t explicitly say whether the episode will be weird in a good or bad way, it’s probably a good idea to assume that something unpleasant is coming up for Graham, and he’ll have a lot more to deal with as the new season progresses.
In other news, filming the new episodes is apparently not completely done yet, as the role of Molly hasn’t been filmed – however, the character is scheduled to appear only in the last few episodes of the show, so it’s likely that these casting issues will not slow the production down too much. It’s also good to see that the producers are taking their time with this decision, as the wife of Graham will obviously be a major character with a lot of impact on the show, and it’s a good idea to make sure that she’s properly received. There have been no hints as to what kind of appearance the producers are aiming for, and there have been no rumors from the casting side to shed a little light on the possible direction for her character.
