But of course, the developers should not ignore the single player campaign either, as there has been a worrying tendency in the industry lately to focus on multiplayer with a priority. Shooters in particular seem to suffer from that problem a lot, which is sad because we currently have the ability to see some very exciting cinematic campaign experiences from those games.
It should go without saying that this game will be put under a lot of scrutiny, and players will judge it in many ways. The developers are probably well aware of that too, which is why we’ve been hearing so little information about the title on the official front.
It’s pretty much guaranteed that this release will be spearheaded by a large marketing campaign, and it’s possible that this could include some special cross-platform compatibility features as a selling point. But that’s just a guess and not anything based on official information.
In any case, it’s entirely possible that we might not hear anything about the game during this year at all. Microsoft seem to have their focus elsewhere for the time being, and the company does have their plate quite full at the moment. Of course, they are more capable as a publisher than many other companies on the market, but they also have to manage their resources like everyone else, and they are not unrestricted in this regard.
