There are also some plot points in the “Half-Life” franchise which might be just too difficult to resolve in any satisfying way, such as the story with the G-Man and his mysterious presence in the plot. Fans are still speculating wildly about what his role could mean and how he ties into the whole thing, and there are many interesting theories out there.
But the truth is, no matter what the final answer turns out to be, it will likely not live up to the expectations that fans have built up about this character after so much time. Valve’s writers will have to really strain themselves to come up with a story that their fans haven’t thought of yet.
For these reasons and more, we don’t really expect to see “Half-Life 3” anytime soon. The studio might decide to experiment with some more interesting styles of gameplay for this game, and that’s the only real way we can see it happening.
For example, if they want to toy around with virtual reality gaming, then this could be the ideal platform for that. In that case, even if the game is somewhat unimpressive in its gameplay and story, the sheer novelty factor of it should be able to clear up the air of negativity and make up for any shortcomings that it might have in the eyes of fans.
