After the survival first-person shooter video game “Half-Life 3” got a major trolling at the Gamescom 2016 in Cologne, Germany last month, the excitement on the game has increased exponentially in the last couple of weeks.
In fact, some critics are saying that there are now billions of gamers waiting for the release of the third installment of the “Half-Life” franchise, notes Game & Guide.
American game developer Valve Corporation has yet to confirm whether the game is already in development or not, or whether they intend to come out with “Half-Life 3” at all or not.
But if the gamers and the fans are to be asked, they are so confident that “Half-Life 3” would be developed by Valve Corporation and the game development company would keep everything under wraps until the game is ready to be released to the gaming consoles and the PC.
According to latest rumors, “Half-Life 3” shall feature a Kraken Base that was based on “Half-Life 2″ storyline. It is also said that the Kraken Base is supposed to be made in the beginning of the “Half-Life” storyline.
The same speculations are saying that “Half-Life 3” might also have underwater terrains and submarines and the game’s main storyline shall revolve around the Kraken Base.
Since it is underwater, the players would need submarines to reach the base where they will face Doctor Helena Mossman, who is known as a traitor because she will double-cross the protagonist, Gordon. In fact, it is going to be Dr. Mossman who shall be putting the whole research team in danger including the main playable character Gordon.
The earliest possible release date
Although there have been plenty of rumors and speculations regarding “Half-Life 3” all over the internet, the earliest that the game could come out is in 2018.
Reports have it that Valve shall also be working on several titles which is why 2018 is the earliest possible release date for “Half-Life 3.”
The other plausible reason for the 2018 release date is the fact that the franchise will mark its 20th year or anniversary in the same year.
The first game of the franchise, the original “Half-Life” survival first-person shooter video game came out in 1998. The second game, “Half-Life 2” came out in 2004. So a third installment is very much long overdue.
This assumption is giving fans of “Half-Life 3” the hope that Valve is indeed busy with the development of the game at the moment and the developer simply wanted to keep everything under wraps until it is ready to finally unveil the game.
Many gamers and critics, however, believe that Valve Corporation has already let a number of major gaming events slipped by without announcing “Half-Life 3,” and that every passing day that the game is not released, it either turns gamer away or lessen their excitement on it.
But some others believe that “Half-Life 3” will always draw excitement in whatever event it intends to make an announcement.
Pulling a fast one on the participants
.
Meanwhile, some trolls pulled a fast one or a big joke on the attendees of the Gamescom 2016 held on August 17 to 21 at Cologne, Germany by putting up a huge supposedly “Half-Life 3” advertisement banner outside of the event venue.
The eye-catching “Half-Life 3” poster was displayed alongside banners for very real video games including “Dishonored 2,” “Watch Dogs 2,” “Sniper,” and “Ghost Warrior 3” outside of the Koln Messe convention center.
However, upon closer look, the poster turned out to be not of “Half-Life 3” but paid for only by three editors who previously played “Half-Life,” the original game.
The poster does not actually read “Half-Life 3” but “Half-Life: 3” and under in smaller text “Editors Who Played It Back Then.” The 3 in the poster refers to the number of editors and not the latest installment of the highly-anticipated video game.
