Valve is rumored to launch the much-awaited “Half-Life 3” on VR!
According to reports, the first-person shooter game will be coming through the Virtual Reality platform.
Some say that the third installment of the popular video game franchise will be released as a full VR game title by 2018.
VR gaming is no doubt the future of the gaming industry and what way to treat fans with the latest installment of the game by releasing it through the latest technology.
VR is a computer technology that replicates an environment, real or imagined, and simulates a user’s physical presence and environment to allow user interaction.
The technology artificially creates a sensory experience, which can include sight, touch, hearing, and even smell. The immersive environment can be similar to the real world in order to create a life-like experience.
Some fans are ecstatic that the game will most likely come out in this form of technology because it is certain that it will give them a new and a more exciting gaming experience.
Rumors of the game coming to the VR platform was sparked when HTC and Vive’s joint project Steam connection came into the picture.
Further fueling these rumors came when a Twitter account of Valve’s Gabe Newell confirmed that “Half-Life 3” is a sure go and even gave out a specific release date.
It turns out that the Twitter account was fake and it belonged to a poser who merely changed his name to spread inaccurate information.
As usual, Valve has been silent about the real status of the game. Reports say that the window for the game to materialize is slowly slipping by.
Marc Laidlaw, the chief writer of the previous “Half-Life” games is no longer with the company. Some of the people behind the original “Half-Life” game and its sequel are not with Valve anymore as well.
Also, Newell once stated that the only way they would do another installment to the classic gaming franchise is if people at Valve come together and say that they will do it.
Parent Herald reported that when asked about a possibility of a “Half-Life 3,” Gabe did not seem so enthusiastic about it. He adds that the game is already a classic and he wants it to remain that way.
However, there are also reports saying that “Half-Life 3” will indeed materialize and that it will be released sometime in 2018, just in time for the franchise’s 20th anniversary.
Valve is the name behind some of the biggest and most popular games such as “Counter-Strike,” “DoTA,” “Left 4 Dead,” “Portal,” and much more.
News Independent noted that market insiders are highly speculating that “Half-Life 3” will be released in full VR format by 2018, which means both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 will already have support for VR technology by then.
Initially, many thought that the much-awaited game will be released back in 2010 given the pattern Valve has done with the previous games.
The first game had a six-year gap with the second one so fans were expecting a third installment as early as six years ago.
A lot of fans thought that Valve will release “Half-Life 3” in this month’s E3 2016. However, fans are still hopeful that Valve will give out some information on “Half-Life 3” during the event.
Ardent gamers hope that someone from Valve will clear up rumors once so that they won’t get their hopes up waiting for the game.
“Half-Life” was first released in 1998 for Microsoft Windows platform. In the game, players assume the role of Dr. Gordon Freeman who must fight his way out of a secret research facility after a teleportation experiment goes disastrously wrong, fighting enemies, and solving problems.
