‘Half-Life 3’ Might Come Out in 2018 to Mark the Franchise’s 20th Anniversary, Rumors Say!

American game developer Valve Corporation has yet to confirm if indeed the company is now developing the highly-anticipated survival first-person shooter video game “Half-Life 3” but there have been ceaseless reports about the game online, indicative of how popular and widely anticipated it is.

“Half-Life 2” came out to the gaming consoles back in 2004 so it has been 12 long years of wait for gamers of the “Half-Life” franchise.

According to the latest rumors, the game shall come out in 2018 because the year will mark the 20th anniversary of the franchise. The first game in the series, “Half-Life,” officially came out in 1998.

The same rumors are also saying that Valve may either come up with a full version of “Half-Life 3” or perhaps a next episodic installment of “Half-Life 2.” After “Half-Life 2” was released in 2004, Valve also unveiled two more episodic installments in the next three years, the last of which came out in Christmas of 2007, details the Vine Report.

Valve Corporation CEO Gabe Newell has said in an interview last year that the only reason that they would go back and do like a super classic kind of product is when a whole bunch of people just internally at Valve decide to say that they wanted to do it and had a reasonable explanation why they are pushing for it.

He added that if they want to do another “Half-Life” game and they would ignore everything that they have learned in shipping “Portal 2” and also in bringing along all the updates to the multiplayer side, it would seem like a bad choice.

Another promotional boost

Late last month, “Half-Life 3” got another promotional boost online when it somehow made the rounds on Twitter.

Apparently, some internet troll created a fake Twitter account of Valve Corporation CEO Gabe Newell and confirmed the existence of the game via a tweet.

The Twitter account and its tweet on “Half-Life 3” have fooled a number of people especially those gamers who have been waiting for news and update about the game.

Eventually, the troll has since deleted the erstwhile fake Gabe Newell Twitter account but it has already accomplished what it set out to do.

“Half-Life 3” has been in the rumor mill since the release of the second episodic installment of “Half –Life 2” way back in 2007. Surprisingly, Valve Corporation has kept mum about the game the whole time, leaving internet trolls and some former employees of the game development company to do the talking or teasing online.

Game is going to happen for sure

Although there is no official statement yet from Valve Corporation regarding the development or the release date of the game, many believe that “Half-Life 3” is going to happen.

In an interview last year, the Valve Corporation CEO also said that they will just keep moving forward but that does not necessarily always mean that people are worried that it might not happen.

The last game in the franchise “Half-Life 2” was released in the gaming consoles back in 2004 so it is no longer surprising to see heightened gamer interest on “Half-Life 3” after 12 years.

While there have been plenty of leaked information and rumors about the game that had their field day on the internet, nothing has been confirmed nor denied by Valve.

What seems consistent in the rumors is that “Half-Life 3” shall come out after the game development company’s other highly-anticipated video game, the multiplayer zombie shooter video game “Left 4 Dead 3.”

Half-Life 3

Market insiders are now speculating that “Half-Life 3” is going to be released in 2018 already in full VR format, which means that both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 already have support for VR technology by then.

Having the game come out in a VR-capable gaming platform would surely redound to better gaming experience for gamers.
