Game developer Valve Corporation is said to be not in a hurry developing its first-person shooter video game “Half Life 3” for two major reasons.
Valve is already making lots of money for its multiplayer video games like “Dota 2,” “Counterstrike,” and its other games on its own gaming platform Steam that it does not want to risk putting the stake on a single-player game amid its huge fan base.
And secondly, the game developer believes that multiplayer games have better revenue potentials than single-player video games.
That is why if Valve Corporation is given a choice on which of the two popular franchise will it want to work ahead between “Half-Life 3” and the zombie shooter video game “Left 4 Dead 3,” the latter may have a better chance of being developed and coming out first.
A new gaming mode
There were even reports that the reason why the development of “Half Life 3” is taking so long is because only 10 people are working on the game at the moment.
Christian Post confirmed it when it mentioned in its report that Valve Corporation actually moved 100 of its people who were supposed to be working on “Half Life 3” to work on other game titles.
If it’s true that only 10 people are working on the development of “Half Life 3,” then it would take the game two full years before something concrete comes out of it, unless initial work has already been poured on it.
However, there is another set of rumors going around why the video game development is taking so long. Accordingly, Valve Corporation is capitalizing on the virtual reality (VR) technology and is planning to use it for “Half Life 3” and also for “Left 4 Dead 3.” If there’s an inkling of truth to these speculations, then gamers have all reasons to be patient with the development of the game because when it finally comes out, it would surely be a breakthrough and positively outstanding too.
An industry-wide joke
According to Design & Trend, “Half Life 3” has, in some ways, become an industry-wide joke simply because of how long the project has been openly discussed and hidden from its audience.
It has already been a decade since “Half Life 2” came out. However, there have also been reports that Valve has been working on the game for quite some time. In fact, some former employees of the game developer even claimed to have seen sketches of the game’s artwork.
Instead of “Half Life 3,” reports are now rife that a spinoff game from “Half Life 2” called “Lost Squad” is bound to be released soon. Perhaps the idea behind the game is Valve’s way of momentarily stopping the bleeding or a stop-gap measure because for sure, it does not hold off the wait for “Half Life 3,” and is actually building it some more.
