‘Half-Life 3’ Gets Another Boost from Erstwhile Fake Gabe Newell Twitter Account!

The highly-anticipated survival first-person shooter video game “Half-Life 3” got another promotional boost online just recently when it somehow made the rounds on Twitter.

Apparently, some internet troll created a fake Twitter account of Gabe Newell, CEO of Valve Corporation, the game developer of “Half-Life 3,” and confirmed the existence of the game via a tweet.

The Twitter account and its tweet on “Half-Life 3” have fooled a number of people especially those gamers who have been waiting for news and update about the game, reports Segment Next.

Eventually, the troll has since deleted the erstwhile fake Gabe Newell Twitter account but it has already accomplished what it intended to do.

Too long in the rumor mills

“Half-Life 3” has been in the rumor mills since the release of its predecessor way back in 2004. Surprisingly, Valve Corporation has kept mum about the game the whole time, leaving internet trolls and some former employees of the game development company to do the talking or teasing online.

Although there is no official statement yet from Valve Corporation regarding the development or the release date of the game, many believe that “Half-Life 3” is going to happen.

The assumption is also based on the recent statement of the real Gabe Newell who said that the only reason that they would go back and do like a super classic kind of product is if a whole bunch of people at Valve says that they wanted to do it and had a reasonable explanation why.

Newell added that if they want to do another “Half-Life” game and they would ignore everything they have learned in releasing “Portal 2” and all the updates on the game’s multiplayer side, it would seem like a bad decision, notes The News Independent.

The Valve Corporation CEO said that they will just keep moving forward but that does not necessarily always mean that people are worried that it might not happen.

To come out after ‘Left 4 Dead 3’

The last game in the franchise “Half-Life 2” was released in the gaming consoles back in 2004 so it is no longer surprising to see heightened gamer interest on “Half-Life 3” after 12 years.

While there have been plenty of leaked information and rumors about the game that have had their field day on the internet, nothing has been confirmed nor denied by Valve.

What seems consistent with the rumors is that “Half-Life 3” shall come out after the game development company’s other highly-anticipated video game, the multiplayer zombie shooter video game “Left 4 Dead 3.”

Market insiders are now speculating that “Half-Life 3” is going to be released in 2018 already in full VR format, which means that both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 already have support for VR technology by then.

Having the game come out in a VR-capable gaming platform would surely redound to better gaming experience for gamers for sure.

Valve is said to be involved as well in the development of the HTC Vive VR, which was launched early this year during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2016, and reports have it that the developer is looking at employing the platform to some of its games on Steam, which it also owns.

Half-Life 3

The VR technology would surely make “Half-Life 3” a cut above the rest of the present and upcoming roster of first-person shooter video games.

So it is likely that Valve is leaving no stones unturned in ensuring that “Half-Life 3” comes out remarkably well but also profitable for the American game development company.

Valve is already providing all the software for the innovative HTC Vive VR headset, but aside from a collection of mini experiences known as The Lab, Valve hasn’t actually made a VR game as of yet.
