‘Half-Life 3’ Fan Theory Says that the Game Might See the Light of Day in 2018 with Impressive New Features

While American game developer Valve Corporation has yet to say anything official whether it is indeed developing the survival first-person shooter video game “Half-Life 3” or not, the internet is still rife with speculations that the game will come out soon.

Based on latest fan theory, which seems consistent with previous rumors, “Half-Life 3” might see the light of day in gaming consoles and the PC in 2018 with impressive new features, notes the Christian Daily.

The fan theory and the previous rumors have based their assumptions on the fact that the “Half-Life” franchise will be marking its 20th anniversary in 2018 so it is only but fitting for Valve to unveil the latest iteration of the game during the same year.

There are also rumors saying that Valve Corporation might have already been working on “Half-Life 3” but in a clandestine way. The notion was recently reinforced when some fans have discovered a code generated from a “DoTA 2” update.

The code showed ‘HLVR’ which many have deduced to mean as “Half-Life Virtual Reality.” Thus, it also spawned speculations that the game could actually come out with a virtual reality (VR) headset already.

Gordon Freeman on a new mission

During the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 held late in February this year, Cher Wang, Chairperson of HTC, confirmed that their company is cooperating with the developer of the “Half-Life” franchise but she did not directly say that they are working on “Half-Life 3,” notes Game & Guide.

As far as the possible storyline for the game is concerned, reports have it that Gordon Freeman will remain as the main protagonist of the game and his main mission is to locate the missing Doctor Helena Mossman.

Gordon Freeman shall reportedly reach an underwater base for his mission and it is where his “Half-Life 3” adventures will begin.

In addition, there are also rumors saying that “Half-Life 3” could be the final game of the popular franchise. However, all these remain as speculations pending the confirmation or denial of Valve Corporation, which seems unlikely to do so anytime soon.

Can it come out next year?

A lot has been said and reported regarding “Half-Life 3” over the last two years but Valve Corporation has yet to confirm all those speculations about the game that have practically flooded the internet.

Despite rumors that the game would be launched in several gaming events this year, nothing of that sort happened.

While fans could have been disappointed on Valve Corporation over the no-show of “Half-Life 3” in those gaming events, it surprisingly did not happen. In fact, gamers have become even more interested and excited about the release of the game.

The reports are actually saying that the excitement, enthusiasm, and interest in the game have increased exponentially in the last couple of weeks.

The level of excitement and enthusiasm may be on target as latest reports have it that Valve Corporation is set to finally unveil “Half-Life 3” next year as part of the company’s Steam Dev Days.

Reports are saying that Valve might just raise the red curtain on “Half-Life 3,” however since the game developer has yet to make a confirming statement about the game’s involvement or participation on Steam Dev Days, this remains as speculation.

There are also reports saying that it would not be “Half-Life 3” that would be launched at the Steam Dev Days event next year but “Half-Life VR” which would be an experimental version of the franchise in virtual reality.

Half-Life 3

Destinations, a Steam VR app, also paved the way for data miners to course through their files and discovered a certain project dubbed as “HL:VR,” which strengthened the notions that it is “Half-Life VR” that is forthcoming and not yet “Half-Life 3.”

Previous rumors were saying that “Half-Life 3” would come out on the gaming consoles after the multiplayer zombie shooter video game “Left 4 Dead 3” already comes out.
