‘Half-Life 3’ Expected to Get a Boost from the ‘Half-Life’ Film Adaptation Now in Development!

American game developer Valve Corporation has yet to say anything official about the survival first-person shooter video game “Half-Life 3,” so fans and gamers have to content themselves with picking up rumors and speculations on the internet as far as possible updates to the game are concerned.

The more consistent rumors seem to suggest that “Half-Life 3” will come out after the multiplayer zombie shooter video game “Left 4 Dead 3” is released.

While Valve Corporation has not said anything official about the release dates of both “Left 4 Dead 3” and “Half-Life 3” on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, and the PC, there have been reports since last year that “Left 4 Dead 3” may come out next year while the earliest that “Half-Life 3” could be release is sometime in 2018.

However, all these release date timelines are mere speculations at this time pending the confirmation or denial from Valve Corporation.

There have been countless hints over the past couple of years since the release of “Half-Life 2” back in 2007 that “Half-Life 3” is already in the thick of development. But there are also reports of late saying that the game has already been cancelled for good.

How the cancellation rumors made the rounds

The cancellation rumors began when series writer Marc Laidlaw decided to quit the development of the next video game of the franchise as well as the retirement of animator Doug Wood, reports the Ecumenical News.

In a recent interview following his departure from the franchise, Laidlaw confirmed that he had officially retired from Valve and as such, he was no longer privy to any new developments on “Half-Life 3.” He added that he no longer speaks for Valve.

Laidlaw added that he had officially retired from Valve and that it would be inappropriate for him to answer questions or speculate openly regarding the fate of the franchise.

The writer said that he still considers Valve as his second home because he has worked for the company for 18 years. He disclosed that he came to a decision to retire because he felt that he needed to take a break from the chaotic environment of game production. He also said that he will pursue self-directed writing projects.

One month later, it was the turn of Doug Wood to bid farewell and say goodbye to the company, reinforcing notions that “Half-Life 3” has already been cancelled.

Working on the film adaptation already

While most fans and gamers of “Half-Life 3” are still hoping that the much-anticipated video game would soon be released, they can actually turn their attention to the ongoing production of the “Half-Life” film adaptation

The movie was initially confirmed way back in 2013. It was actually producer and director J.J. Abrams who said that “Half-Life” is already in the thick of development.

J.J. Abrams made the pronouncement when he said that the development team has tapped a group of young writers who are capable of working on it, notes The News Independent.

There are also reports saying that when the game finally comes out, it shall be capable of supporting VR technology using the HTC Vive.

Anxious gamers of “Half-Life 3” should be happy to know that while the game is rumored to come out on the gaming consoles in 2018, “Half-Life” the movie will likely come out ahead and that would surely quench their thirst for the game.

Half-Life 3

According to the latest rumors, the movie will set the stage for the plotline of “Half-Life 3,” which is really not unusual.

Whether fans and gamers of the “Half-Life” franchise, believe it or not, this year actually marked the 12th year since “Half-Life 2” was released in the gaming consoles and the PC.

While reports and speculations about “Half-Life 3” have been dropping on the internet like flies since two or three years ago, game developer Valve Corporation has been uncharacteristically and eerily quiet about the whole thing.
