‘Half Life 3’ Development Being Intentionally Stalled By Valve to Make Way for Left 4 Dead 3

The development of the first-person shooter video game “Half Life 3” has been the subject of rumors and speculations for far too long because game developer Valve Corporation has been very quiet about it.

Often, news about the game comes from the vivid imagination of fans, who feel that they have waited long enough and Valve was still not doing anything about it so they decide to take the matter into their own hands.

That is why they come up with all kinds of stuff on the internet to insinuate, hint, or tease that “Half Life 3” is coming soon when in reality, they hardly know a thing about it since Valve is not budging at all to give any update.

The good news for anxious gamers is that a former employee of Valve Corporation commiserates with their woes and thus decided to come out by disclosing what he knows with regards to the development of “Half Life 3” and the multiplayer zombie shooter game “Left 4 Dead 3,” cites Segment Next.

However, as a former employee, his revelation at this point is unofficial because it did not come from an official channel or the company itself. Still, it’s a lot better than having no news at all. The even better part is that his news is quite plausible enough it’s really worth believing.

Not in active development

According to the ex-staff of Valve Corporation, “Half Life 3” is currently not in active development and not because the company is taking it slow as per recent reports. Apparently, Valve is intentionally stalling the development of the highly-anticipated game to make way for the development of “Left 4 Dead 3,” which it plans to release first.

The same source said that “Half Life 3” is actually being considered for release either in the fourth quarter of 2017 or in the first quarter of 2018, details the International Business Times of India.

This timeline only means that “Left 4 Dead 3” will surely be released before the last quarter of 2017 because “Half Life 3” will come out right after the former makes it to the video game shelves both for the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

Although the news is not as promising as what “Half Life 3” fans are hoping, it is still better than getting erroneous information that often raises their false hopes. At least now, they know when to expect the next iteration of their favorite video game franchise.

The reasons for not being in a hurry

Valve is said to be not in a hurry developing “Half Life 3” for two major reasons. The game developer is already making lots of money for its multiplayer video games like “Dota 2,” “Counterstrike,” and its other games on its own gaming platform Steam that it does not want to risk putting the stake on a single-player game amid its huge fan base.

The game developer believes that multiplayer gaming has better revenue potentials than single-player video games.

That is why if Valve Corporation is given a choice on which of the two popular franchises will it want to work ahead between “Half-Life 3” and the zombie shooter video game “Left 4 Dead 3,” the latter may have a better chance of being developed and coming out first, which is what the ex-employee of Valve revealed.

There were even reports that the reason why the development of “Half Life 3” is taking so long is because only 10 people are working on the game at the moment.

Half-Life 3

According to recent reports, Valve Corporation actually moved 100 of its people who were supposed to be working on “Half Life 3” to work on other game titles.

If it’s true that only 10 people are working on the development of “Half Life 3,” then it would take the game two full years before something concrete comes out of it, unless initial work has already been poured on it.
