‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ will be Seeing Less or No Thanos at All, Producer Reveals

Sorry to break it to “Guardians of the Galaxy” fans, but Thanos won’t be the main villain in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirms.

In an interview with Empire magazine, Feige says that the purple villain who appeared in the first movie might not appear in the upcoming sequel.

The producer finally confirmed that Thanos, who happens to be Zoe Saldana’s Gamora’s adoptive father, won’t be wreaking havoc yet in the second film and that there might be less of him or even no sign of him in the film at all.

However, Feige reveals that the studio has a lot in store for the supervillain in the future. The Marvel exec reveals that they weren’t teasing the villain for the past five years for nothing.

He adds that the next time he returns, he’s not just going to mess around and that when everything comes to light, fans will come to an understanding on the reasons behind his actions.

Josh Brolin has played the role of Thanos in 2014’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” and 2015’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” He is set to reprise the role in the upcoming two-part “Avengers: Infinity War.”

Feige also spoke about another important detail fans should watch out for. The Marvel boss reveals that the Guardians lineup will be expanding by the second film. On who will be the addition to the Guardians is something Feige did not divulge.

James Gunn, who helmed the first film will be returning to direct the sequel along with stars Chris Pratt, who plays Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Saldana, who plays Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as Groot, and Bradley Cooper as Rocket.

Micheal Rooker, Karen Gillian, and Benicio del Toro are also confirmed to reprise their roles as Yondu Udonta, Nebula, and The Collector, respectively. Pom Klementieff has also been added to the cast to portray Mantis.

The upcoming film is slated for a May 2017 release and filming is already set to begin in February in Atlanta.

With this, the studio is now casting auditions for handsome men to work alongside Gunn and lead actors Pratt and Saldana.

Moviepilot reports that the film’s official Facebook Page posted that casting calls are open for males who are GQ model types, ages 18 to 55 years of age, and, at least, 5’10″ in height.

For the scene, they are looking for Caucasian guys, especially blondes, who are clean-shaven, or who are willing to shave.

Talents who will be accepted will get $100 for eight hours, with additional fees if they would need makeup.

It is still unknown why the scene required such detailed specifics but, the particular scene is to be filmed on February 18 and on February 25-27.

For those interested, they just need to send their contact information, dimensions, sizes, and three or four current clear photos to Guardians2extras or to the movie’s Facebook page.

One handsome guy who won’t need to audition, however, is “Silkwood” actor Kurt Russell. According to Cinema Blend, Russell has been tapped by Marvel Studios to play an important part in the upcoming film, Peter Quill’s father.

Reports say that Star-Lord’s father that remained a mystery in the first film will now be unveiled and that producers are eyeing Russell to take on the role.

Last month, the 64-year-old actor confirmed that he is indeed in negotiations with the studio about joining the movie.

While appearing on MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, the “Dark Blue” star revealed that he was surprised to know that he was considered for the role.

Russell adds that he has yet to see “Guardians of the Galaxy” and says that he needs to watch it first before considering being part of the sequel.
