One of the great things about “GTA 5” is the ongoing support from Rockstar, especially in the form of new free content for the game. It’s clear that the studio is investing a lot of effort in maintaining this title, and they see it as a long-term project rather than a quick cash grab release, and they’ve just announced even more free content for the online portion of the game.
The studio officially confirmed the release date of the “Ill-Gotten Gains Update: Part Two” on their website a while ago, revealing that it’s coming on July 8, and they followed through with that, adding various extra content to the game for free. Players have the opportunity to spend their hard-earned cash on even more new items – though of course we mean in-game cash and not real money – and the list includes new vehicles as well as weapons.
Among the various entries in the list we see the Coil Brawler, the Lampadati Toro boat, as well as the Dinka Vindicator motorcycle. These are just some of the high-end options that are available, and the update includes even more content than that.
Players will also get the opportunity to dress their characters in even more ways, as the update adds various new clothing options. Knowing the game’s overall crazy style, it’s not surprising to see that some of those are a bit more unusual and interesting. Of course, the update also includes a few clothing options that are more suitable for players who like to maintain a “classy” appearance, and all in all it seems like Rockstar are looking to include something for everyone.
A new Marksman Pistol was added as well, and it has a somewhat unusual method of action compared to other weapons in the game – it’s an antique pistol with a single-shot action, so players should be very careful with aiming it. However, even one shot can deal an incredible amount of damage and this gun can definitely pack a serious punch.
It seems to be balanced rather well, although we wonder how well it would fit within the game’s overall style and setup. One-hit-kill weapons tend to be frowned upon traditionally, at least in shooter-type games, and “GTA” is no exception. Hopefully, Rockstar have found some adequate level of balance for the weapon.
All in all, players will have more than enough opportunities to spend their cash on new luxury goodies, and the new update looks like it’s going to expand the game’s possibilities even further. It already offers quite a lot to see and do, and it’s an impressive open-world title.
But with this kind of new content coming on a regular basis, we can easily see “GTA 5” remaining popular and relevant for many months – if not years – to come. Its success is partly due to the well-designed multiplayer mode which seems to work quite nicely, all things considered. But there’s no denying that the ability of Rockstar to keep maintaining the game on a constant basis is something that definitely has an impact on its popularity.
At this point, the studio doesn’t have to do much other than keep adding new content for players to spend their money on, and the game should remain as popular as it is right now for quite a long time. Of course, Rockstar should also make sure that the new content they’re adding is actually interesting and not just for the sake of quantity over quality. So far though, we don’t have a reason to believe that.
