“GTA 5” is going quite well so far, as Rockstar have been continuously supporting the game with new content and bug fixes, but the initial release was pretty solid as well and it allowed them to establish a very prominent position on the market. Not that they were suffering from a lack of popularity before that, as the studio has definitely always been enjoying a lot of attention for their games.
And even though the current game is quite good already, players already have their sights on a potential sequel, and have been discussing some of the possible developments for “GTA 6”. One quick look at the most prominent discussion boards that talk about the game is enough to see that players have plenty of ideas for what they want to see in “GTA 6”.
It’s also worth noting that there have been some minor rumors about “GTA 6” as well, but at this point it’s not very realistic to think that we’re going to get any official info about the game soon. Even if Rockstar are already developing it, it wouldn’t make sense for them to talk about the game publicly, as it would potentially worry fans of “GTA 5” that the current game will be getting less development attention.
The location of “GTA 6” is something players have been discussing the most, and it seems like some want to see it taken back to the earlier days of the franchise, more specifically around the time of “Vice City” with its bright neon art style.
This could also require a new time setting as well, and we don’t know if Rockstar are willing to take the story back in time at this point. We would expect the next game to have a modern setting, perhaps even with some slight futuristic elements.
It’s not that an older theme wouldn’t fit within the game’s art style, quite the opposite. But the gameplay might be a bit too difficult to explain in certain regards if the game takes place in the past. “GTA” has been getting wackier and wackier lately, with various gameplay elements that would not make too much sense in an older setting.
Players also want to see the idea of having multiple protagonists expanded on, but we don’t know if Rockstar have any plans for that. It was certainly received quite well in “GTA 5”, and it added a lot to the game. On the other hand, there have been rumors that Rockstar are considering a female protagonist as well, and that might be an interesting addition to the mix.
Something else that has been the focus of much discussion among players has been the game’s multiplayer component. “GTA 5” was the first title in the franchise to officially introduce multiplayer support, after previous games in the series got it through unofficial mods.
However, even though the online functionality of “GTA 5” was quite extensive and well-done, some players apparently felt like it needed a little extra polish. Some even went as far as to say that it felt like an afterthought more than a main feature, but of course it’s to be expected that Rockstar will need some time to perfect it.
It’s their first iteration of the game’s multiplayer, after all, and they’re likely going to need to go through a few more major versions before they figure out what works and what doesn’t. But in the end, at least they’re trying, and that’s what that matters.
