Could we see the next game by 2018? For some reason, that’s the year that gets repeated the most among fans and people seem convinced that this is when Rockstar are planning to bring it out. That could make sense, given their past releases, but it’s also a long period of time that makes it difficult to plan ahead.
On the other hand, if the studio wants to truly expand this franchise and make the next game as interesting as possible, they might need a bit more time to properly polish it.
With that in mind, we don’t know what we should expect for the release date of “GTA 6”. Could the game take 5 years to create? There have certainly been longer projects in the industry, although in some cases they’ve failed to live up to the huge expectations that were built up over this period of time.
Rockstar are probably aware of this and want to avoid this situation, which is why we wouldn’t expect an overly long development cycle for this game, although we also definitely don’t expect to see any serious news about it in 2016-17. Towards the end of 2017 Rockstar could possibly start talking about the game little by little, but even that is still a long time away.
