‘GTA 6’ Rumored Cancellation Only Meant to Hype the Additional New Contents to ‘GTA 5,’ Critics Say!

There have been some rumors coming out as of late saying that American game developer Rockstar Games has decided to abandon the development of “Grand Theft Auto 6.”

Many gamers and critics, who have been too familiar with the ways of Rockstar Games hardly believe the reports because looking at the business side of things, the “Grand Theft Auto” video game franchise is one of the most, if not the most successful, video game franchise in the world.

The company’s profit numbers on the “GTA” franchise has consistently been very good so it would be absurd and illogical for Rockstar Games to suddenly decide to stop doing the latest iteration to the popular video game franchise.

Without Rockstar Games confirming or denying the rumors, it subsequently became clear to gamers that the reason for the so-called “GTA 6” cancellation speculations is because a new DLC has been announced for “GTA 5” by the game developer.

Rockstar is apparently determined to improve the game and keep gamers’ enthusiasm very high so it announced the release of the Bikers DLC, which would come out to the gaming consoles and the PC on October 18, reports Game & Guide.

To be accompanied by a Halloween DLC, the Bikers DLC shall allow players to create a gang of bikers to be composed of eight players. The eight players shall specify positions for each member before they can compete with massive co-op gameplay or individual missions.

It will also come with new theme modes, weapons, appropriate tattoos, and motorcycles naturally.

Focusing more on ‘GTA 5’ than ‘GTA 6’

Some widely anticipating gamers of “GTA 6” were disappointed on the latest statements made by Rockstar Games that it shall be focusing more on the development of DLCs for “GTA 5” rather than on the development of the upcoming iteration of the franchise, notes the Vine Report.

There are also rumors saying that Rockstar is said to be delving into a new project and has thus put the development of “GTA 6” on the backburner.

It is not clear if the new project is actually the DLCs for “GTA 5” or an entirely different video game. In addition to the DLCs for “GTA 5,” the game developer is said to be working as well on possible updates to “GTA Online.”

Rockstar Games has a penchant for having very long breaks before working on another main sequel for the “GTA” franchise.

Five years in between games

It has been widely speculated since early last year that the open world action-adventure video game “GTA 6” would come out in the current generation gaming console anytime from 2018 to 2020.

The 2018 speculation is justified by the fact that from “GTA 4” to “GTA 5,” it took the New York-based game developer five years to complete the next game in the franchise. “GTA 5” came out on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One in October 2013 and on the PC a few months after that.

On the presumption of the same development timeline, “GTA 6” could come out around October 2018.

The 2020 speculation, on the other hand, came out as a result of rumors saying that “GTA 6” could already come out on the next generation of gaming consoles from both Sony and Microsoft, which could be the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Two, respectively.

However, critics note that Rockstar Games still has a major game in its development roster that has yet to be officially released and that is the open world Western action-adventure video game “Red Dead Redemption 2.”

It has been widely rumored early this year that “Red Dead Redemption 2” would be launched during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 in June before it will make it to the gaming consoles and the PC before the end of the year.

Unfortunately, the E3 2016 has passed, and so was the Gamescom 2016 held in Cologne, Germany last month, but “Red Dead Redemption 2” has yet to see the light of day.
