GTA 6 News And Rumors: Will It Take Place in Vice City? Let’s Find Out!

The rumors about “GTA 6” have been going stronger than ever, despite there being absolutely no official confirmation that the game is even in development. This has never stopped the Internet rumor mill, especially when it comes to the gaming industry, which is notorious for its constant leaks and inability to keep secret information concealed for long.

And while information about the game is plentiful right now, it’s a bit difficult to filter out the plausible rumors from the more ridiculous sounding ones. Several recent pieces of information have been particularly interesting though, as not only have they been repeated several times by multiple different sources so far, but the details also seem quite credible, all things considered.

The game is allegedly going to take place in a familiar location, with Rockstar reportedly looking for a return to Vice City. This could mean another 60s themed game, or an entirely new theme based on the same location. However, the rumor that the game will reintroduce some old characters from the original “GTA: Vice City” means that the game would take place in roughly the same timeline (if true).

A lot is being considered on the gameplay front as well, with the developers juggling several interesting options, including the addition of a female protagonist. This would be a first for the series, although the studio showed that they’re willing to break out of traditional patterns with the release of “GTA 5” which featured three separate protagonists. It’s not known if “GTA 6” will follow the same idea or if it will return to the old style of having one protagonist for the entire game, but both would be interesting options if there is a female character in the lead.

Rumors about the release date have been the most plentiful, and sadly, because of this, it’s been difficult to figure out when the game might realistically come out. The most prominent leaks so far are pointing at a prolonged development, going all the way up to 2020. This would not be out of line for Rockstar, a company known for taking its time with the development of each game they make. They are one of the companies that would rather delay a game multiple times than release it in an unfinished state just to get some quick extra sales, so it’s not out of the question that they could need more than five years to complete the next “GTA”. And if the game is as extensive as the rumors are making it out to be, then Rockstar are definitely going to need some extra time to get it finished.
