After Scottish video game developer Leslie Benzies resigned from being the president of Rockstar North last year, the reports were saying that it was a cordial and amicable decision on him and the company which he once headed.
Rockstar North is a subsidiary of American game developer Rockstar Games. It seems that there is no truth to the reported amicable parting of ways between the game development company and Leslie Benzies. A few months ago, Benzies sued Rockstar Games for US$150 million although details of the supposed case have yet to be disclosed officially.
It can be recalled that Leslie Benzies is one of the people in Rockstar Games who contributed big in the development of the popular and multi-million dollar “Grand Theft Auto” video game franchise.
It is possible that his US$150 million lawsuit has something to do with his claim for rights or ownership over the “GTA” franchise.
With a legal tussle like that, it would be very difficult to move forward for Rockstar Games on the development of “Grand Theft Auto 6,” according to critics.
Thus, it is possible that “GTA 6” may actually deviate from its storyline or possibly even in its gameplay if only to circumvent Benzies’ claim on the game or the franchise per se, reports Neurogadget.
An official trailer for the game
Reports also have it that an official trailer of “GTA 6” might be released by Rockstar Games this year although if it were to be based on the same kind of rumors that spread before the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 last month, it seems that these are mere speculations again and should be taken with a pinch of salt.
It has been reported that Rockstar Games would make the announcement about “GTA 6” at the E3 2016, state its official release date sometime in the future, before releasing a teaser or a glimpse of its gameplay.
None of those rumored reports were true as Rockstar Games was a no-show at the E3 2016, and even failed to launch its long-rumored open world Western action-adventure video game “Red Dead Redemption 2.”
However, there are also some critics who defended the game developer by saying that it was no use for Rockstar to launch a game that will be released in 2018 at the earliest and it is too far off into the future to even talk about it.
America’s finest city
There have also been plenty of speculations regarding the setting or location of “GTA 6.” The most common report is that it shall have a gameplay map that combines all the locations of the first five games in the series.
Then came reports saying that the game would have a Japan setting. There was also a London location rumor thrown into the mix, and finally, there is the whole of the US setting speculation.
Of late, the map of San Diego in California has surfaced in the “GTA 6” radar and fans, gamers, and critics have since been speculating about it.
Accordingly, America’s finest city, which is a reference to San Diego, shall become the gameplay setting for “GTA 6,” reports the Parent Herald.
One website of GTA 5 users said that San Diego is a promising new home for the hit Rockstar Games franchise. The place apparently has biotech companies, military and defense activities, tourism and geography, and a crossing to Mexico via Tijuana, which is a big exit for the players of “GTA 6.”
“GTA 6” could offer plenty of gameplay possibilities with the coastal city of San Diego which also boasts of wildlife preserves to contrast with a larger commercial district and it would also come out quite unique too.
Meanwhile, instead of launching the “Red Dead Redemption 2” during the E3 2016, Rockstar Games decided to go discrete during the event.
