From the previous gameplay and character rumors about the open world action-adventure video game “Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6,” speculations have switched to the side of game developer Rockstar Games.
Rumors now have it that Rockstar Games is getting very skeptical about spending $265 million just to develop “GTA 6” as it might fell short of the remarkable sales performance of “GTA 5.”
“GTA 5” actually made a sales record of $800 million in just 24 hours from its release in October 2013 and the game has now raked in billions of dollars for Rockstar Games and still continues to do so, details Game & Guide.
But it should be noted that these are mere rumors since it would be very difficult to leak a supposed budget of a video game development considering that work on the game is still in progress.
Critics also believe that assuming that the rumors are on target, $265 million would be peanuts for Rockstar Games since the “GTA” franchise has already made tons of money for the company that the budget of the next installment of the game is already a no-brainer.
They believe that if $265 million is indeed the working figure, then it is likely that the game would come out way better than “GTA 5” and that would surely make fans of the franchise happy so sales would surely be flowing freely thereafter. With such a huge budget allocation, it is almost sure that the game would come out already with VR or AR support.
Still fixed on a 2018 release date
Despite the emergence of new rumors about “GTA 6,” one thing remains consistent from all the speculations is that the game would likely come out in the gaming consoles and the PC in 2018.
This particular speculation has a better leg to stand on since there has been a five-year gap in between the release of “GTA 4” and “GTA 5,” a timeline which Rockstar Games would likely keep in mind in releasing “GTA 6” by 2018, notes the Christian Today.
In fact, there are now speculations saying that the game could likely be announced by Rockstar Games in next year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, California.
As far as setting of “GTA 6” is concerned, the rumors are still aplenty and that includes the entire United States, London, Tokyo, as well as one that says that all the gameplay maps of the “GTA” franchise shall be bundled together to form the gameplay map of “GTA 6.”
However, since Rockstar Games has yet to confirm anything at all about the game itself, everything is speculation at this time including whether the game already in development or not, or whether it would indeed come out in 2018 or not.
Abandoning the development of the game?
There are also absurd rumors coming out of late saying that American game developer Rockstar Games has decided to abandon the development of “GTA 6.”
Many gamers and critics, who have been too familiar with the ways of Rockstar Games hardly believe the reports because looking at the business side of things, the “Grand Theft Auto” video game franchise is one of the most, if not the most successful, video game franchise in the world.
The company’s profit numbers on the “GTA” franchise has consistently been very good so it would be absurd and illogical for Rockstar Games to suddenly decide to stop doing the latest iteration to the popular video game franchise.
Without Rockstar Games confirming or denying the rumors, it subsequently became clear to gamers that the reason for the so-called “GTA 6” cancellation rumors is because a new DLC has been announced for “GTA 5” by the game developer.
