There have been a lot of reports, news, rumors, and speculations about the sixth installment of the open world action-adventure video game franchise “Grand Theft Auto” that it seems like the game is just around the corner.
Credit that to the success and popularity of the “Grand Theft Auto” franchise, whose “GTA 5” broke video game sales records upon its release to the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 in October 2013, and then on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One exactly a year later.
Previous reports say that “GTA 6” shall have the entire US as its gameplay map. However, there are also rumors that players can already fly airplanes or ride on commercial flights, in addition to speculations that they can also teleport themselves. These features are reportedly meant to address travel downtime of players while in the game.
Putting two and two together, there are current rumors going around that the game might also have an additional setting outside of the US and that if ever it drives out of America, it is going to be in London.
Contemporary American and English
The latest rumors stemmed from a previous statement made by Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser who said in an interview not too long ago that the DNA of the “GTA” franchise and possibly “GTA 6,” is American but English-speaking.
He added then that it does not necessarily limit the game to such DNA, adding that it was just what they have done so far.
So if the game drives out of its comfort zone, it would sure like to maintain its English-speaking facet, which points to London and the UK as a possible new setting for the game.
However, these are just mere speculations at this time pending the confirmation or denial from Rockstar Games.
Consistent rumors
What seems consistent among the rumors about “GTA 6” since it made the rounds immediately after the release of the much-awaited and long-delayed “Online Heists” early last year, is that the game shall have a female protagonist.
The female protagonist shall reportedly be voiced by actress Eva Mendes. The rumors are also consistent that the male protagonist of the game shall be voiced by Ryan Gosling, who happens to be the partner of Eva Mendes in real life, making it a sort of close family affair.
Apparently, Gosling was chosen not because of Eva Mendes but because of his acting in “Drive” which actually showed some kind of semblance to the game.
There are also reports that if and when the game comes out anytime from 2018 to 2020, it shall already provide VR support which shall elevate its excitement all the more, notes N4BB.
There have also been reports that Rockstar Games may already be deep in development of “GTA 6” but others are saying that the developer would be able to do that once it is through with the open world Western action-adventure video game “Red Dead Redemption 2.”
It is possible that “Red Dead Redemption 2” would be officially launched by the game developer at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 in June and make it to the retail markets before the end of the year.
With that being said, it is likely that Rockstar can be able to focus on the development of “GTA 6” either later this year or early next year.
Among the latest rumors about the upcoming sixth installment of “GTA” is that it will feature more aerial missions and more weapons choices.
It sounds viable although if critics are to be more stickler to the title of the video game itself, “GTA 6” having too many flying missions would make it deviate from its real essence. After all, Grand Theft Auto usually means a heist pulled off using a car. So the particular rumor should be taken in with a fine grain of salt.
As far as more weapon choices are concerned, the “GTA” games have never been short in terms of such so this particular part of the rumors may have a bit of accuracy to it.
