It took Rockstar some time to fully develop the highly anticipated “Heists” update, but it’s finally here – and according to those who’ve had a chance to play it, it’s everything that was promised and even more. However, the new release is not without its issues, as some players have been reporting trouble trying to connect to the online service.
In the new mode, players can group up with three other people and go together on heists, completing the missions as a team and accumulating lots of wealth. It should be noted that this is not a mode that can be played in small installments of 10-15 minutes, however. Players willing to join should make sure that they can spend the next hour or so helping out their crew, as a single heist spans over several missions and can take quite long to complete.
As players progress in the new mode, they will also get access to another new set of modes, “Adversary Modes”, which were also added in the last update. Other than that, the online component of the game now has various daily objectives which players will have to hunt for, giving everyone some incentive to look around and explore the new content.
Of course, as can be expected, an update as major as this one didn’t come without its technical issues. Most notably, Rockstar were apparently a little underprepared for the influx of new players, as their servers quickly went down after the update was released. The studio kept in touch with the community though, and they not only kept everyone up to date about the current outage situation, but were also quick to actually fix the problems. The servers were eventually restored and people were once again enjoying the new content.
Judging by the responses the new “Heists” update has been getting, Rockstar have made a very successful release, and they’ve given their fans all they were asking for. The online component of the game is now truly impressive, and an amazing achievement for the franchise overall. Of course, it would have been even better if this was all available at launch, but it’s better to get it late than never.
What’s next in store for “GTA 5”? Rockstar will likely want to take a break now and stop releasing major new content for the game for a while. They’ll probably have a little extra work for the next few weeks too, as they now have to release a few patches to make “Heists” work properly. On the other hand, there are also rumors that the studio has been stepping up the planning for “GTA 6” as well, so they might also want to pay more attention to that title for the time being.
