Rockstar have recently released a list of new jobs for the online part of “GTA 5”, all made by the game’s community – but this time, there is a special theme in the release, as they have all been inspired by various games by the studio, including “Max Payne 3”, “L.A. Noire” and “Red Dead Redemption”. There are several missions related to each game, and it looks like Rockstar’s fans are about to get a very nice treat and a blast from the past.
Various players have taken part in the creation of the new missions, and it’s obvious that the community has spent a lot of work preparing this content package, and it’s good to see that Rockstar are giving that hard work such attention. Many game developers and publishers have realized the importance of supporting community mods in their games and promoting the work of their fans, and Rockstar are generally one of the companies that stand behind this concept the most.
There have also been rumors about various hacks and exploits being distributed lately too, sadly – and it looks like there is a new “mod menu” that allows players to be undetectable to others and to Rockstar themselves. What’s more, the menu apparently allows players to see others reporting them, and block the reports from reaching Rockstar at all.
This could have a very negative impact on the game, as it could allow cheaters to go unpunished for a long time if nobody is able to report them. We don’t know if the exploit will be allowed to continue for much longer as Rockstar are likely already on top of it, but players should be wary of suspicious behavior in online servers for the time being.
It’s also worth noting that players haven’t been able to confirm the functionality of the mod menu yet, and it’s possible that it’s just a virus with a cleverly edited video advertising its supposed features – that’s not a rare occurrence in game cheating communities, and it’s one of the main channels for the distribution of malware among gamers.
Players have also been hard at work on some pretty impressive mods for the game, such as one that brings over the AC-130 gunship mission from “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” and gives players the opportunity to rain explosions over the city. However, the mod still needs to be polished as it’s lacking some functionality, but it allows players to roam around and fire its weapons for the time being. The 25mm minigun still needs to be properly implemented, however.
