Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 to Touch on Some Serious Themes, Plot Could Get Darker!

Those who’ve wanted to see a little more drama in “Grey’s Anatomy” would probably be happy to know that this is exactly what the showrunners seem to be planning for the upcoming season 13. The show is apparently going to explore some more serious themes, such as domestic violence, and from what we’ve read in some reports, it sounds like some characters are going to be portrayed in a slightly different light as well.

According to some previews for the upcoming season, Jo is apparently the victim of domestic abuse and she’s been on the run from her abusive husband for some time now. That would explain why she had to reject Alex when he proposed, and it could also explain some other aspects of her character too.

It’s not entirely clear how this will affect her character – or that of Alex once he’s also inevitably dragged into this – but we expect that the show could take a bit of a darker turn in this regard. However, it’s also possible that the writers are going to use the incident with Alex as a way to bring her character back up, and restore her confidence.

This could also ultimately bring the two of them closer together, so it’s not necessary for the season to develop in a negative direction with regards to Jo and Alex. There have been rumors that season 13 could be a bit more negative, but we don’t know if they are related to the upcoming revelations about Jo or not.

Other than that, the producers of “Grey’s Anatomy” are apparently trying to bring the show back to its roots in certain aspects, and they are bringing back old cast members among other things. Fans feeling nostalgic for the previous seasons of the show should be happy to know that characters such as Dr. Christina Yang are getting back on the screen.

That could lead to some potentially negative developments in the story however, but we trust that the producers are going to balance the good and the bad evenly. While there might be some explosive developments once Dr. Yang is back into the mix, they could lead to some more positive outcomes in the long run.

More previews about the season indicate that relationship issues will be on the forefront for a good portion of the episodes. Whether or not that will lead to a more positive second half of the season remains to be seen, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the producers of “Grey’s Anatomy” decide to leave everything in a messy state before the season is over.

It would be entirely in their style, plus it would leave a good deal of cliffhangers for the next episodes. Of course, it’s probably too early to peek into the long-term future of the show like that, as we barely even know what we’re about to see in the first episode.

Is jealousy going to ruin some long-lasting friendships, and are we going to see new couples developing? These are some of the questions we’ve seen about season 13, and there are many reasons for fans to be excited about it.

Meanwhile, some fans have been expressing minor criticisms about the use of domestic violence as a major plot element in the upcoming season, but it doesn’t look like the producers are going to do it in a distasteful way. Rather, their presentation of the issue could potentially even bring more light to it, so we’d be curious to see how Jo’s past is portrayed.
