It doesn’t seem like the show’s fans want to see so much drama between all characters right now though, so hopefully the producers are indeed planning to tone things down after the first few episodes.
It’s possible that they are planning to rearrange the relationships between some characters for good during this season, too. Arguments that have been relatively low-key could certainly blow up into more major confrontations, and Maggie and Meredith are good candidates for that.
But fans of “Grey’s Anatomy” know that the show is really about the relationships between its characters, and the combination of love and drama always plays a major role in the plot developments. Because of this, it’s completely reasonable to expect more serious shifts in the relationships of some characters.
As we said above, the show pretty much needs to make such changes in order to survive too, as it’s already been on the screen for twelve seasons. When it returns on September 22, the new episodes will have to feature some interesting changes to the formula in order to ensure that fans won’t get bored and leave. The producers of “Grey’s Anatomy” have shown that they clearly know what kinds of changes their show needs in order to keep fans interested though, even if they’ve gone through some less successful periods, so we trust that they are planning something good.
