The new season of “Grey’s Anatomy” is already throwing quite a lot of drama in the mix, and the first two episodes have been very interesting for fans who’ve been with the show for a long time. The second episode in particular had some seemingly minor details which could have some more serious implications in the future, and it’s entirely possible that we will see some more permanent rearrangements in the cast in the future.
The second episode of this season continued the important subplot of Dr. Miranda Bailey’s promotion to Chief of Surgery, and it looks like everyone is slowly getting adjusted to the new situation. Even those who were skeptical of how the new director is going to mesh with everyone else, it looks like their relationship will not be affected in any negative way and we’re going to see the show’s characters performing even better in their new professional environment.
April has been forced to deal with some personal issues related to Jackson, as he still hasn’t gotten over her departure, and it looks like the two of them will be facing some serious issues in their relationship in the future. Many fans have been hopeful that this is only something temporary and that we’re still going to see them getting along fine in the end, but we don’t know what the writers might be planning.
Other than that, it’s been hinted that the show is going to pay more attention to Karev and his own history, as the character may finally be explored in more detail and it could be revealed where his personality is coming from. He’s already quite notorious all over the hospital as everyone knows him as a serious bully, so it would be interesting to see the writers digging deeper into his backstory and telling us how he came to be who he is today.
It was revealed that he himself was the victim of bullying as a teenager, and apparently this was the source of much frustration for him, leading him to adopt the personality he is known for today and become unpleasant to everyone around him. Are we finally going to see Karev finding his true self and cutting down on the negative aspects of his personality? Or was this just a minor temporary moment before the show returns to normal?
It would be disappointing to see the latter case, according to many fans, as the character could easily be used as an example that even bullies can turn out to be good people if they want to make a change in their lives. Karev definitely has the potential to be a good person if he really puts some effort into behaving better towards those around him, and if the writers really are planning to let him come back in such a positive way, this could lead to some interesting changes in the show’s future.
In general, season 12 will likely come with various changes to the overall setup, so this is not out of the question at all. Many fans of the show have been hopeful that the writers would take a more serious look at some of their characters and start revising the personalities of some of them, and now might be the right time to go about that. Season 12 has been rumored to be changing some core elements for quite some time now, and if these first two episodes are to be of any indication, those rumors could definitely turn out to be true.
