Greg Anthony Arrested And Removed From CBS And Turner!

You might remember Greg Anthony from his days playing college basketball for Portland and UNLV back in the late 80’s early 90’s. After that, he went on to the NBA and had a successful career with the Knicks, Grizzlies, SuperSonics, Trail Blazers, Bulls and the Milwaukee Bucks most recently in 2002. After this week, however, you are not going to remember Greg Anthony for his basketball chops or the fact that he was a sports analyst for CBS sports and Turner Broadcasting.

Greg Anthony was arrested in Washington D.C. for his role in a prostitution bust. According to reports, Greg Anthony was arrested trying to pick up a prostitute and it did not take long for CBS to end their relationship with one of the best in game announcers in the game. The reports from this week said that he was arrested at around 6PM on Friday evening for solicitation of a prostitute and could spend up to 180 days in jail. Greg Anthony was reportedly released later on that night and no other details were released at that time.

Greg Anthony is a whiz behind the microphone and was considered one of the best announcing games on some of the biggest stages in the game. However, that talent did not save his job this week as CBS and Turner have decided to cut ties with him. The two companies are partners for the NCAA Basketball Tournament. Greg Anthony quickly grew into a household name on televised basketball games and was even a studio analysts on NBA TV.

According to a statement from CBS, “Greg Anthony will not be working again for CBS this season” and Turner gave him the same treatment saying, “Greg Anthony has been suspended indefinitely and we will have no further comment at this time.” Greg Anthony found a way to end his announcing career very quickly, at least with these two companies. This season is young and there is no reason to think that he will be back behind the mic, ever.

Even though he was just arrested trying to solicit, the two companies that paid his bills are not going to see it as a “victim less crime”. Plus he was announcing to college aged kids and that does not set any sort of example that CBS or Turner would like to deal with at this time. Other than having to release one of the best, CBS and Turner are now forced to fill that void and the one left behind when Steve Kerr decided he wanted to coach the Golden State Warriors.
