“Gran Turismo 7” is being hyped quite a lot, and for a good reason – this is a very important installment in the franchise, after the way the previous game was received. Fans weren’t very pleased with “Gran Turismo 6” overall, and even though the game had some redeeming qualities, it was seen as somewhat bad as a whole.
Now, “Gran Turismo 7” can restore fans’ trust in the brand name and get people interested in “Gran Turismo” again, but it could also go the other way and completely ruin what little interest is left in the franchise. So far though, we’ve been getting indications that the game is shaping up very well, and it could definitely live up to fans’ expectations once it’s released, as long as its developers play their cards right.
One of the things players seem to want most is smooth performance. This game has always been about skillful driving, not fancy arcade gameplay, and while shiny graphics can definitely help to sell the immersion, what really matters is that the player has complete control over their car. The last game had its own fair share of performance issues, mostly due to the fact that Polyphony Digital’s developers had to work with the difficult hardware of the PlayStation 3.
Now, with the PS4 though, things are completely different and they can go through the development of the title much more easily. The PS4 is also a much better platform when it comes to graphics quality of course, so that’s another benefit for the game. But according to Polyphony themselves, the main benefit they see in the situation right now is that the PS4 makes their development much easier and more streamlined.
The audio engine could be improved a lot for “Gran Turismo 7” as well, which is another important point for making the game as immersive as possible. Mike Caviezel, known for his work on the “Forza Motorsport” series, is now reported to be working on the game, so we can expect a noticeable improvement in audio quality.
This might not sound like a major feature, but it’s actually quite the important one for players who want to feel like they’re truly immersing themselves in the world of the game and the driving experience that it offers. The difference should be especially noticeable for those playing with a good pair of headphones or other high quality audio hardware, but all players should be able to benefit from the improved audio quality in general.
