DriveClub – an exclusive PlayStation 4 title that released recently – was met with unfavorable reviews from most game critics. It seriously failed to live up to the anticipations of millions of console-gamers worldwide. The title was ordinary, and even die-hard racing fans considered this game to be mediocre and not worth devoting a lot of hours to.
Sony has always been competing with the Xbox exclusive Forza Motorsport series, and they are currently hunting for a revolutionary new racing title. The company and its fans have great hope for the upcoming Gran Turismo 7. Gamers expect that this new installation in the Gran Turismo series might set things in balance for Sony. 1997 marked the starting of this long-running exclusive PlayStation franchise.
The latest game in this series, Gran Turismo 6, released on the PlayStation 3 back in 2013. Sony currently lacks an awesome racing title for the next-gen PlayStation 4. Kazunori Yamauchi, the creator of this series, told Japanese Gaming magazine Famitsu that Gran Turismo 7 will release in 2014. Later it was indicated that 2014 was too soon because the developers needed more time.
Developers have finally revealed that the production is underway, and gamers can expect this title to be released in 2015, 2016 being the latest. In a recent interview with GamesTM magazine, Yamauchi admired the capability of the PS4. He said that the hardware on the PS4 will make a significant difference to the upcoming title in this series.
He asserted that he and his developers had huge plans with Gran Turismo 7. He promised fans that everything that was not done in GT6 will be surely inculcated in GT7. The sixth entry came with numerous cars and 100 different tracks due to which it received great acclaim from critics and fans all over the world.
By all accounts, it seems that Gran Turismo 7 is gearing up to be a better game than its predecessor. Unlike previous versions in the series, this upcoming title will not be preceded by a feature-cut prologue version. Earlier, it was made clear that the audio will be improved to a great extent compared to its predecessor. Gamers are not surprised by the announcement of a full overhaul with this title.
Yamauchi also hinted at the inclusion of the standard PS2 era cars in GT7. Gamers may not be too happy regarding this lack of consistency with cars that was also seen in GT5 and GT6. Yamauchi finally declared that the developers are mainly focused on increasing the number of premium cars in Gran Turismo 7. Since each car has its fan base, the developers have decided to hang on to the present archive.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates on Gran Turismo 7!
