Game developer Polyphony Digital has dilly-dallied on the release date of the car racing video game “Gran Turismo 7.”
The Game Revolution cited that two years ago, Polyphony said that it would be releasing the highly-anticipated seventh installment to its “Gran Turismo” video game franchise in 2015. But the year is about to draw to a close yet it is unlikely for the game to make it exclusively to the PlayStation 4 before the end of 2015.
Recent reports said that Polyphony is eyeing either a 2016 or 2017 release date for “Gran Turismo 7.” However, it was also mentioned by the developer in recent reports that it has updated the roster of the race cars in the video game to make it present day by including mostly 2015 and 2016 car models.
With that being said, releasing the game in 2017 would make the race cars on the roster a bit old and Polyphony has to make sure that “Gran Turismo 7” comes out in 2016 to keep its promise. Otherwise, it would just be going back to its own hype it made two years ago.
Worried for gamers
It is not just the fans who are already excited to get their hands on the upcoming car racing video game “Gran Turismo 7” when it is officially released in the near future, game creator Kazunori Yamauchi feels the same way too.
Unlike the gamers though, Yamauchi need not get hold of a copy of “Gran Turismo 7” when it is finally released exclusively on the PlayStation 4 as he has been very busy working on the development of the game for quite some time.
In a recent interview, Yamauchi said that people will not wait so much on a game that is way too far from being released. He said that since the game is “Gran Turismo,” fans and gamers deserve that it comes to them earlier, notes Christianity Daily.
Yamauchi’s latest statement about the release date of “Gran Turismo 7” was consistent with his pronouncement sometime in October 2014. He also hinted that it seems pretty clear that the game will come in the next year and a half so it is likely that “Gran Turismo 7” will be released later in 2016, with the latest being early 2017.
It will also not help the cause of “Gran Turismo 7” coming out later than its direct competitor, the “Forza Motorsport 6” being released exclusively on the Xbox One, as it may prompt other gamers to jump to the other racing game title instead of waiting for the PS4 exclusive.
Coming out with the best features
Perusing through the commentaries of avid gamers on the forum site of GT Planet, it is very clear that they want the upcoming car racing video game “Gran Turismo 7” to integrate the best features of previous “Gran Turismo” games with the reported new features to make the game really great.
Some gamers are even suggesting that Polyphony Digital consider other features of top car racing video games like “Forza Motorsport” and even the arcade-like game “PCars” on the PC for inclusion into the game.
However, majority of the gamers are espousing the inclusion into the game of the great features of the “Gran Turismo 6,” the “Gran Turismo 5,” the “Gran Turismo 4” and the “Gran Turismo 3” dream race cars which are far better than the “GT4” toned down versions.

I think the reason why it’s taken them so long is probably because they’re building the game on a new engine or they’re really packing the game with a lot of stuff/features.
