They should definitely pick up the pace on their work however, as there are some potential competitors coming up on the horizon and it looks like the market could actually get quite tough for Polyphony in the near future. “Assetto Corsa” has been getting a lot of attention from all sides, and many people have high expectations for the game when it hits next-gen consoles.
It’s already been out for a while on the PC, and it has enjoyed a lot of positive attention ever since it got out of Early Access on Steam.
Racing fans were very fond of the title and all it brought to the table, and right now everyone is expecting the game to offer some serious competition in this genre once it hits consoles.
Currently, this is scheduled for April, which doesn’t give Polyphony much time to react with the beta of “Gran Turismo 7”. However, this could also be the reason why the studio wanted to bring their other “Gran Turismo” game out so soon, so that they would be able to at least offer some competition to “Assetto Corsa” and keep their name in the headlines for a while until “Gran Turismo 7” is ready.
