“Gotham” started its second season in a somewhat dramatic way, bringing up some important questions among its fans regarding some of the show’s characters. And while the season is still fresh and there is a lot left to explore in it, it looks like the writers have been trying to pack as much drama and excitement within those new episodes as they possibly could, resulting in a very peculiar mix that should definitely keep fans interested and at the edges of their seats.
The Gotham police have a lot of work on their hands, as they’re trying to capture six inmates that have managed to break free. They end up asking for some external help as well, although this might turn sour for them eventually, according to some previews about the future episodes of season 2. Fans are already suspecting that there will be a major betrayal somewhere down the line, but we have no idea about the exact details of how this is going to play out.
Episode 2 is likely going to show a little more from that subplot with the escaped convicts, as it will reveal what they are planning to do and who exactly they are. However, it looks like a lot will still be kept under wraps and fans will be left guessing to a large extent, as the writers are apparently preparing the season in a very carefully controlled way, trying very hard to keep the excitement at peak levels all throughout the new episodes.
Bruce Wayne will be on the trail of some mysteries of his own in the meantime, and it looks like a lot is about to be revealed on his side too. It’s not like he wasn’t mysterious enough already, but season 2 might possibly push that trend even further and make some rather interesting revelations about him. Some of those revelations might come as a bit of a shock to fans as well, but we’re confident that everything will end up smoothly one way or another.
It looks like Gotham will be in a lot of danger in season 2 in any case, and the subplot with the escaped convicts is going to play a major role in that. From what we’re seeing from the various promos released for the season, we might get to a situation where the entire town is in serious danger, and even Bruce Wayne and the entire police force are going to find themselves baffled at how they are going to resolve the crisis.
Indeed, a villain in the promo ends the video by saying “You ain’t seen nothing yet”, which doesn’t exactly leave much room for guessing that we’re going to see a very dramatic continuation of the show throughout season 2. Hopefully there will be enough happier moments to counterbalance all that drama though, as fans of the show have been getting a bit worried that it might be getting too serious for its own good.
After all, it might have a serious overall premise, but it was also loosely based on comic books that had a lot of humor, even if that humor was dark in places. The producers obviously realize what kind of audience they’re making this for, looking at the first season, and they will likely continue this trend in season 2 as well, although they might be trying to test the limits of their fans with regards to darker and more dramatic plots.
