It was also initially thought that Hero 5 will be announced at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2016 in Las Vegas earlier this month.
As for the Karma, the company has already released a video of the drone’s aerial photography but hasn’t released an image of the drone itself.
With the announcement of the Karma, GoPro is now ready to battle DJI which is currently the leader in consumer drones.
DJI’s Phantom line had roughly 70% of the consumer market in early 2015 and sold over $500 million of drones in 2014.
Some market analysts say that if GoPro can successfully market the Hero 5 and the Karma bundle, then DJI might have to face some tough competition this year and that they should prepare for their sales to go down.
Of course, it all depends on the new features that the Hero 5 will possess and the features the Karma will have.
Analysts have also noted that since the company has pushed further the release for Hero 5, the expectation for the latest action camera is a lot higher than before.
As of now, there have been no specs released for the Karma and GoPro has yet to make a confirmation if it will indeed be launched alongside the Hero 5 and will be sold in a bundle.
