It was previously announced that GoPro Hero 5 would be making its way before 2015 ends. Adventure seekers and sports enthusiasts were looking forward to its release because it was lined up along the Holidays and would be the perfect gadget to buy for the Yuletide season.
Unfortunately, the newest addition to the GoPro Hero action camera line won’t be coming this Christmas. The company has released a statement that they have pushed back the release date of the action camera to early 2016.
MarketWatch reports that the GoPro Hero 5 was first pegged to come out in October this year, about a year from the GoPro Hero 4’s release. But then it was moved to December 2015. And then, it was announced that it will be making its way to the markets by next year.
According to Ecumenical News, the delay is already taking its toll on the company. GoPro Inc. isn’t only trying to appease fans that have been expecting the latest iteration of the action camera, but investors as well especially now that the delay has had a negative effect on GoPro’s stock on the trading floor.
As per MNR Daily, the recent announcement about the delay of the release of the GoPro Hero 5 affected the company’s stocks, which went down by 16% after the company has failed to hit its targeted earnings for the third quarter of this year.
This should somehow worry the company as if the situation gets out of its hand, it would be difficult to pacify their investors with their continuous plummeting stocks.
Aside from this, a lot of competitors have already emerged providing what the GoPro cameras can give to users, with some able to sell them at lower prices.
However, the company is trying its best to make the new release date worth the wait. Reports say that GoPro Inc. opted for a 2016 release is because they need more time to add new enhancements to the new action camera.
No specific date has yet been revealed, but analysts say that it should hit markets by the first quarter of the year, or the anticipation might turn into frustration for the public. Also, more delay means more tumble in stocks for the company.
Latinos Post says that GoPro Hero 5 is expected to pack on better resolution than its predecessors. It’s also expected to capture Full Ultra HD photos and videos also called as 8K, which is double than the capability of the GoPro Hero 4’s 4K resolution.
The 8K resolution will be paired with 60 frames per second framerate to provide users the clearest videos and pictures. The gadget will also be 40% lighter than its predecessor, making it more compact and easier to handle, to make it the ultimate adventure companion, Christian Post reports.
One of the reasons the GoPro became an instant hit is its ability to capture great videos and photos underwater. Adventurers and sports enthusiasts would be happy to know that the latest action camera is rumored to increase its waterproof ability.
For those who love diving, rumors suggest that the GoPro Hero 5 will have a dive housing which features easier reach and accessibility.
Speculations say that the GoPro Hero 5 will be able to function up to as deep as 60 meters underwater although GoPro Inc. has yet to confirm if the ongoing improvements for the Hero 5 are legit.
GoPro Hero 4 came out in September 2014 hence the anticipation for the Hero 5 is that massive. With almost a two-year gap release date from its predecessor, those who want to get their hands on the action camera expects a much greater extreme action camera experience.
Hero 4 already received great reviews especially with its Silver and Black editions. The action camera can record 4K video at a frame rate of either 24, 25, or 30 frames per second. It has Bluetooth connectivity, Wi-Fi, highlight tag, and Protune.
