Since late in 2014, there have been a lot of reports, information, rumors, and speculations about the GoPro Hero 5, the latest action camera from the American camcorder company based in California.
From a previously-reported October 2015 release date, the GoPro Hero 5 shall reportedly come out in the global retail markets in October this year.
Most of the specifications and features that have made the rounds on the internet about the GoPro Hero 5 were already confirmed by GoPro CEO Nick Woodman, who also promised that when the action camera comes out, it shall immediately become the best videographic equipment the world has ever seen.
Based on the latest statements from Woodman regarding the highly-anticipated action camera, GoPro Hero 5 shall have a superior hardware as well as a smartphone and cloud-connected storage, reports the University Herald.
This means that the action camera can easily exceed its internal storage allocation as it can directly save the pictures or videos to either the user’s smartphone or to a cloud server. This will come very useful for those with active lifestyles as they need not worry about running out of memory space for their photos and videos once they start using the GoPro Hero 5.
GoPro’s redeeming product
Before the release of the GoPro Hero 5 in October this year, the company shall also release the GoPro Karma drone next month.
Some tech enthusiasts believe that GoPro is now working on making a grand release for the GoPro Hero 5 considering the long fan wait for the action camera. But reports are pretty consistent in saying that the upcoming action camera shall become the American camcorder company’s redeeming product in an attempt to recapture the business stability it once enjoyed, notes the Christian Times.
Reports are also consistent that the GoPro Hero 5 will come out with a price falling in the range of $450 to $550 making it actually cheaper or at most equal only to the cost of the GoPro Hero 4, its predecessor.
The initial rumored release date for the device was October last year so when the GoPro Hero 5 did not come out and there were already thousands of fans waiting all over the world for it, it somehow affected the shares of stocks of the company over at the NY Stock Exchange.
The company bottomline for the second half of 2015 has suffered as a result despite GoPro releasing the GoPro Hero LCD in June and the GoPro Hero 4 Session in July last year.
Fodder for the rumor mills
At the start of the year, reports started coming out that GoPro Hero 5 would finally be released in October this year and it just became fodder for the rumor mills since.
With an October 2016 release date, it actually pushed back the original release date by exactly one year and GoPro is now under pressure to release the device this year or face the wrath of an already agitated consumer base.
GoPro also unveiled the GoPro Karma drone late last year and reports have it that it will finally hit the retail markets next month.
After the release of the GoPro Karma drone, it will be the turn of the GoPro Hero 5 to take the center stage in October. However, it is still not clear if the latest action camera from the American camcorder company will also make it to the retail markets in the same month or maybe in the months after its launching.
The rumors about the GoPro Hero 5 have been very consistent since last year as accordingly, the action camera shall have two major features that its predecessors do not have. These are its 8K resolution and the capability to record 3D videos.
While most fans of GoPro believe that the company would deliver on its promise with regards to the two major features of the Hero 5, some tech junkies believe that the American tech company may have difficulty producing a device that can support an 8K resolution.
