Make no mistake about it. American camcorder company GoPro is really determined to make the Hero 5 the best videographic equipment when it finally comes out in the retail markets in October this year.
The October 2016 release date of the GoPro Hero 5 was a one-year push-back from the supposedly October 2015 unveiling of the action camera.
According to GoPro, the Hero 5 shall become the most connected and convenient action camera that it has made so far when the device finally comes out soon.
It was actually GoPro CEO Nick Woodman who confirmed the capabilities of the Hero 5, which would make it truly stand out against the Hero 4+ or the Hero 4 Session, which was released in July of last year.
Woodman also explained that GoPro will release an entirely new video editing experience on the Hero 5 that shall enable users to make strikingly good video edits in minutes, details Engadget.
The company has also come up with the GoPro awards program which incentivizes users to upload and share better GoPro videos on their social networks. The video editing on the Hero 5 would really make it easier for users to come up with great videos.
Both the new camera and the software will come ready for the forthcoming cloud service, with GoPro’s desktop content management application being slated for release in March.
Woodman explained that connected for Hero 5 refers to simpler controls and tight integration with the mobile, desktop, and cloud tools which are a lot better than a boost in resolution or camera quality.
Playing it safe in pricing
Reports also have it that GoPro will play it safe when it comes to pricing the Hero 5. Accordingly, its price will be in the range of $450 to $550, notes Youth Health Mag.
Because of its inability to launch the GoPro Hero 5 last year as it promised earlier, the income of the American camcorder company has significantly dropped. It also had to trim down the retail price of its Hero 4 from $399 to $199 in an attempt by the company to perk up the sales of its latest action camera.
Even the company’s share prices and stocks at the New York stock exchange have considerably dropped as a result of the non-release of the Hero 5 last year.
It seems that GoPro has learned its lesson in putting a more realistic and affordable pricing for its latest product offerings.
A really good action camera
From a previously-reported October 2015 release date, the GoPro Hero 5 rollout was moved to December 2015 in order for the American camcorder company to supposedly capitalize on the great consumer spending during the Holidays.
Unfortunately, 2015 drew to a close with no sight of the GoPro Hero 5. It was then reported that the release date has been moved to an indefinite time in 2016 in order to allow the company to incorporate more features and make it a really good action camera.
Sometime last month, GoPro officially came out to state that it would be formally launching its Hero 5 action camera in October this year, which gave it more than enough time to do whatever finetuning it is planning to make the device really stand out when it comes out of the market.
From a business perspective, the delay in the launching of the GoPro Hero 5 last year has terribly hurt the stocks of the American company and not even the Hero 4 Session and LCD released in the early part of the second half of 2015 were able to offset the downward trend in its share prices.
The poor decision-making by the firm’s management, particularly on the release date of the Hero 5, has eroded investor confidence in GoPro, which resulted to shares of the company plummeting down by 62.73% in the last three-month period.
