GoPro Hero 5 to be Powered by Ambarella H1 Processor to Ensure Superb Camera Features, More Information

There have been plenty of rumors about the GoPro Hero 5, the next iteration of GoPro’s action camera for the adventurists and the adrenaline junkies, but none draws more excitement than its rumored release date of October this year.

Although the American camcorder company has yet to make an official statement to either confirm or deny the speculations, another interesting rumor has cropped up as of late, which excited fans all the more.

Reports have it that contrary to previous reports that GoPro Hero 5 shall be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, the action camera shall reportedly run on Ambarella H1 processor which is several notches better than Snapdragon SOCs when it comes to video compression and image processing, details the Ecumenical News.

The Ambarella H1 processor gives GoPro Hero 5 the ability to capture 4K videos at a remarkable rate of 60 frames per second (fps), which would make it simply the best action camera when it comes out in the market.

Ambarella is known as a developer of low-power, high-definition (HD) and Ultra HD video compression and image processing products. Its products are used in a variety of HD and Ultra HD cameras including IP-cameras, sports cameras, wearable cameras, flying cameras, and automotive video camera recorders.

Its chipsets are also being used in broadcasting TV programs worldwide, so it is not surprising that GoPro would go for the Ambarella H1 processor for its Hero 5.

One of the most anticipated gadgets of the year

Because of its excellent features and the hype that GoPro has made on the Hero 5 since last year, it is quite understandable why critics are referring to the action camera as one of the most anticipated gadgets of the year.

There have been plenty of rumors about its superb features and specifications and some are even describing it as the most connected and convenient action camera ever made.

But the most scintillating of the rumored features of the GoPro Hero 5 is its 8K resolution and the capability to record 3D videos.

After officially unveiling its drone camera recently in the GoPro Karma, reports also have it that the Hero 5 shall be readily compatible with it, which makes it a really great action camera.

Taking one from Apple

There are also reports that GoPro was really serious in making the Hero 5 really great which is why the American camcorder company acquired the services of Danny Coster.

Coster is one of Apple’s prominent members of its design team. He helped Apple to become what it is today through his ideas and designs, notes the Christian Times.

By getting the services of Coster, GoPro is looking forward to seeing him transpose his skills and knowledge to help them with their future projects including the upcoming Hero 5.

Nick Woodman, CEO of GoPro, said in an interview last year, that the GoPro Hero 5 will indeed come out this year. But he did not say exactly when would that be exactly.

So while fans and enthusiasts are still waiting for the GoPro Hero 5, they can actually enjoy the GoPro Karma drone unveiled late last year and will hit the retail markets anytime soon or before June 2016.

The GoPro Karma drone will be released first to be followed by the GoPro Hero 5 after some months. During the company’s fourth-quarter 2015 conference call, the first three versions in the Hero lineup was to be discontinued and the GoPro Hero 4 shall become the current flagship compatible with the upcoming drone.

Woodman said that the company is planning to maintain the current lineup that includes the Hero 4 Black, Silver, and Session before the Hero 5 eventually joins them later this year.
