American camcorder company GoPro has been hyping its Hero 5 action camera since late 2014 as the best videographic equipment when it finally comes out in the market.
The initial rumored release date for the device was October last year so when the GoPro Hero 5 did not come out and there were already thousands of fans waiting all over the world for it, it somehow affected the shares of stocks of the company over at the NY Stock Exchange.
The company’s bottom line for the second half of 2015 has also suffered as a result despite GoPro releasing the GoPro Hero LCD in June and the GoPro Hero 4 Session in July last year.
At the start of the year, reports started coming out that GoPro Hero 5 would finally be released in October this year and it just became fodder for the rumor mills since.
With an October 2016 release date, it pushed back the original release date by exactly one year and GoPro is now under pressure to release the device this year or face the wrath of an already agitated consumer base.
GoPro also unveiled the GoPro Karma drone late last year and reports have it that it will finally hit the retail markets next month.
After the release of the GoPro Karma drone, it will be the turn of the GoPro Hero 5 to take the center stage in October. However, it is still not clear if the latest action camera from the American camcorder company will also make it to the retail markets in the same month or maybe in the months after its launching.
Standout features
The rumors about the GoPro Hero 5 have been very consistent since last year as accordingly, the action camera shall have two major features that its predecessors do not have. These are its 8K resolution and the capability to record 3D videos.
While most fans of GoPro believe that the company would deliver on its promise with regards to the two major features of the Hero 5, some tech junkies believe that the American tech company may have difficulty producing a device that can support an 8K resolution.
However, they also believe that nothing can stop GoPro from turning such possibility into reality but at this time until October this year, it is highly unlikely for the company to be able to come up with an action camera that has an 8K resolution capability, reports the Christian Times.
But all the other reported features of the latest iteration of the GoPro action camera seem consistent and really plausible, noted the same tech buffs.
In the event that GoPro fails to deliver the 8K technology, the Hero 5 shall still come loaded with impressive features. As previously reported, it will be able to capture 4K videos at 60 frames per second, among many other capabilities.
Looking for redemption
During a conference call held in February this year, GoPro executives have revealed that the company had experienced low profits during the past year.
But for the company to get back on its feet and chart the course towards redemption, it has to make sure that when the GoPro Karma drone comes out next month, it has to do well in the market.
In addition, much of the turnaround or redemption for the company’s bottom line is to be anchored on the market performance of the upcoming GoPro Hero 5 when it is finally released in October this year, notes the Christian Daily.
GoPro Hero CEO Nick Woodman says that they are looking at doubling down on hardware to ensure that any new and existing hardware products do a better job of connecting to smartphones and the cloud.
There have been plenty of rumors about GoPro Hero 5 but none draws more excitement than its rumored release date of October this year.
Although the American camcorder company has yet to make an official statement to either confirm or deny the speculations, another interesting rumor has cropped up as of late, which excited fans all the more.
