Google Nexus 7 2016 Reportedly to Do Away with the Nexus Brand and Settle for the G Logo!

Although the Nexus brand has always been identified with Google, there are a good number of smartphone and tablet manufacturers that also come out with Nexus devices including Motorola, Asus, Huawei, HTC, among others.

But the American tech company wants to change all of that with the upcoming Google Nexus 7 2016, which according to reports shall come out in two models – the Sailfish and the Marlin.

Apart from the remarkable features of the two Nexus 7 2016 smartphone variants now making the rounds online, the upcoming Android smartphones from Google shall reportedly do away with the Nexus brand and will just sport the G logo, alluding to Google as a brand, reports the University Herald.

As has been reported previously, the Google Nexus 7 2016 smartphones shall come out with Android 7.0 Nougat already onboard. They would be, in fact, the first devices that shall come out with the latest Android mobile operating system.

Reports also have it that the Google Nexus 7 2016 devices shall boast of exclusive Nougat features including a unique launcher, a user interface, and a never-before-seen animated home button.

Locking horns with Apple’s latest iPhones

With the launching of the next iPhones from Apple just around the corner, there are also speculations saying that the two variants of the Google Nexus 7 2016 shall lock horns or go head-to-head with the latest iPhones.

It is possible that the iPhone 7 shall go up with the Sailfish while the Marlin will be pitted against the bigger iPhone 7 Plus.

Based on previous reports, the 5-inch Sailfish could have up to 32GB of internal storage while the 5.5-inch Marlin shall have a massive 128GB of internal memory, both with options for further expansion through a microSD card slot, which the iPhones simply do not have.

From a previous August launching date, latest reports or rumors are now saying that the Google Nexus 7 2016 devices could come out before Thanksgiving, which means late in November, notes the Christian Today.

It may be a good strategy on the part of Google in order to capitalize on the holiday shopping spree but the Android 7.0 Nougat would come out rather late in the process. Latest Android mobile operating system normally comes out before October so a November release date for the Nougat seems strange.

That being said, everything remains speculation at this time pending the confirmation from Google.

Best Stock Android devices ever

The Google Nexus 7 2016 shall reportedly come out via two premium handsets, which according to the hype shall be the best Stock Android devices ever to come out.

Firing up the new Stock Android smartphones is the latest and greatest chipset from Qualcomm. It shall also include Vulkan graphics support and OpenGL 3.0 support.

It has also been reported that the Google Nexus 7 2016 shall have significant shooting refinement and enhancements with the reported inclusion of the Sony IMX179 camera sensor.

What seems consistent with the rumors for the device is that it shall come out with two variants, which are going to be called as the Marlin and the Sailfish.

There have been reports that the two variants of the Google Nexus 7 2016 shall be made in collaboration with HTC or Huawei or both, which means that one could focus on the manufacture of the other while the other shall focus on the development of the other.

The consensus is that HTC may be tasked to manufacture the high-end Marlin while Huawei can be tapped to develop the Sailfish. However, these remain as speculations at this time pending the confirmation from Google.

Interestingly, there are now reports saying that the Nexus 7 2016 could also be refreshed by Taiwanese tech firm Asus. Apparently, Asus is the original maker of the Nexus 7 and the company even came out with at least two generations of the phablet previously.
