Google Nexus 6 UK Price Confirmed, Preorders Starting Soon!

A while back, Google confirmed that the Nexus 6 is coming to the UK. The successor to their flagship Android phone was reported to be coming close to its distribution on the British market, although no release date was given back then. Today, the company has announced that they will start taking preorders for the new Nexus in a week, and the device will cost between £499 and £549 in the United Kingdom, for the 32 and 64 GB versions respectively. The phone is already listed in the Google Play store.

Details on carrier availability aren’t very clear yet either, with only Verizon having confirmed that they will have the Nexus 6 in their stores so far. It’s expected that other major carriers will be offering the device as well, although without an official confirmation, this remains a speculation. Additionally, Verizon have not revealed anything about their pricing for the Nexus 6, or what contracts it will be offered with. This should be revealed next week, when pre-orders are up, which is expected to happen at the same time across all retailers and carriers that will be offering the device.

Google have also said nothing about their stocking practices and preparations for this launch, which could be a bit worrying. The company faced problems with the launch of the device on the US market, where the demand was significantly stronger than what Google had apparently planned for, as all devices were sold out within the hour.

Buyers interested in getting their hands on the Nexus 6 in the UK will have to wait until November 18 when they can secure their order, although this is only the date for pre-purchasing – it’s not clear when the device will actually be released on the market. Google might be planning to go with a longer pre-order period as well, if they want to make sure that they’ll be able to keep the demands met. If the company waits a little longer and collects adequate information about the number of per-orders placed with all retailers, they might be able to ensure that everyone is able to get a Nexus 6 without any delays.

Various new Android phones are coming to the market soon, and many of them are major releases that fans of the platform have been (rightly) excited for. The Nexus 6 will come with a 2.7 GHz processor, 3 GB of RAM and a large screen that’s just under 6” in size, making it one of the most powerful Android devices available right now. It might even be able to compete with HTC’s own One M9, even though the One line has traditionally been associated with the powerhouses of the Android market.
